It’s that time of year again, when happy beer lovers flock to Sofitel for a wild Oktoberfest celebration. We’re counting down the days till the premium hotel announces its official date for this year’s festivities. We look back at last year’s celebration not only to reminisce, but also to psyche ourselves out for one of the most enjoyable gastronomic fairs of the year. We name three things we look forward to at this year’s Oktoberfest at Sofitel.
A SALIVATING SPREAD OF GERMAN DELIGHTS AND UNLIMITED BEER
Oktoberfest is not for the faint of heart. Apart from the long night of drinking endless mugs of the local and German beer, patrons can look forward to an elaborate food spread. If the experience at Spiral buffet is any indicator, the premium hotelier goes all out for their German brother and sisters. Stalls upon stalls of sausages, sauerkraut, Bavarian desserts, schnitzel and even oversized pretzels (casually sitting on every single table for your enjoyment) fill every corner of the events space. Not to mention, the hotel gives it a gourmet twist so that patrons are eating only the best of the best.
WILD DRINKING GAMES WITH CONFIDENT FRIENDS AND FOES
It won’t be Oktoberfest without drinking games. Everybody is encouraged to participate by the approachable staff and hosts. The aura is extremely positive that there is no doubt that guests will have a hard time walking in a straight line. Chugging competitions and dance battles are easily the most awaited for. Although it isn’t hard to walk around the venue and easily challenge one of the many ladies and gentleman to a battle of the Last One Standing. You may not will all the time, but at least you’re making friends.
THE OPPORTUNITY TO DRESS IN TRADITIONAL ATTIRE
Those who attend the festival often like to make an effort to dress in their best traditional Bavarian wear. Pretty ladies wear their dirndl, a light dress with a low hemline that gathers at the waist and falls to knees length. Men wear their best Alps inspired costume with matching long socks and hat. For those who don’t own any of these outfits, novelty pieces are available on site. Long Oktoberfest hats reminiscent of a wizard’s cap are usually the night’s best sellers. They are the perfect companion to a night of drinking.
