Ebb & Flow: Paying It Forward In Honor Of World Ocean Day

By

Ebb & Flow, a cultural and environmental fundraising event organized by Art Lounge Manila and its collaborators, celebrates the crucial role of oceans in all our lives.

Our oceans produce at least 50% of the earth’s oxygen, and provide us with a vast amount of resources to survive and flourish—so it’s only fair that we take care of it in return. This is the ethos that lies at the heart of World Ocean Day (June 8, 2025), an annual international event that calls on everyone to do their part in catalyzing collective action for a healthy ocean and a stable climate. In line with this, Art Lounge Manila (ALM)—in collaboration with Hoseki, Fundacion Sansó, and Pure Culture—is launching the cultural and environmental fundraising event Ebb & Flow: an eight-day exhibition that will highlight the beauty, resilience, and critical importance of our oceans.

Ebb & Flow Paints A Picture Of Our Relationship With The Ocean

Ebb & Flow will be taking place in two different galleries, with ALM The Podium hosting the project from June 5 to 15, 2025, and ALM Molito in Alabang hosting it from June 12 to 15, 2025. The multi-venue event aims to capture the dynamic relationship between our oceans and the environment, illustrating the natural rhythms of marine life and the human influence on these delicate systems.

Through the paintings and sculptures of talented artists, Ebb & Flow explores the cyclical nature of tides, migrations, and ecosystems, alongside the challenges posed by climate change and pollution. The project also underscores the vital link between ocean health and human well-being. Some of the featured pieces in the exhibit include those by artists Juvenal Sansó, Faico, Luin Veluz, Ronnie Lim, Helena Alegre, Lara Latosa, Rainer Duhaylungsod, JP Tiangco, and Christian Mirang, all of whom translate these complex relationships into stunning visual forms. ALM will showcase different artworks at each venue, respectively.

ALM partner Fundacion Sansó will also release special giclees and silk scarfs (in partnership with Pure Culture) featuring seascape works by the late Sansó, which showcase the late artist’s love for the planet’s bodies of water, and reflect the comfort he found in these tranquil scenes.

ALM has collaborated with Filipino-founded clean beauty house Pure Culture and fine South Sea pearls jewelry brand Hoseki, not only because they value our oceans, but also because they pay it forward through their own sustainable practices and CSR initiatives. During the event, guests will be able to peruse a range of products from Pure Culture and pieces from Hoseki that embody their commitment to the planet.

Supporting ocean conservation, a portion of all sales will benefit Save Philippine Seas, reinforcing the commitment to protecting marine ecosystems. Save Philippine Seas (SPS) is a non-profit organization that aims to empower citizens towards collective action and behavioral change—because after all, when we take care of our oceans, we take care of ourselves too.
