In case you missed it, here’s a round-up of the latest dining developments in March.
What do we crave when we dine out? Yes, food. But it’s also the story, the connection, and the experience that make it memorable. This is Lifestyle Asia’s curated dining radar of the latest in F&B right now, from new spots to fresh concepts worth chasing.
Burgers by Alvin Cailan
Chef Alvin Cailan (man, myth, and legend behind Eggslut and Amboy) teams up with Geronimo Concepts and the Lao family for the city’s latest burger destination. With no official name, it’s marked by a stoplight (green if open, red if closed), matching the red, yellow, and green sauces for their signature burgers. Inside, expect retro charm inspired by a classic New York train diner.

Flour Pot Bistro & Bakery
Chef Rhea SyCip’s Flour Pot has long been a quiet favorite, first known for its cakes served at Fatted Calf Farmhouse Kitchen in Tagaytay, then for its Manila-wide online drops. Now, it finds a proper home in BGC, serving comforting cafe classics and beautifully crafted pastries rooted in seasonal produce and local sourcing. Its new space of pastel tones and nostalgic accents exudes a comforting, easygoing atmosphere that’s ideal for shared moments.

Liyab
Created by Chef Charles Montañez, Liyab is an intimate tasting menu destination in BGC defined by precision, restraint, and a deeply personal take on Filipino flavors. Named after the word for “flame,” it’s built around open-fire cooking techniques like grilling, smoking, roasting, and stewing, all done in full view of the dining room. With fewer than 30 seats and a focus on rare, local ingredients, it’s a quietly intense experience that feels both elemental and refined.

Got Soul MNL
New to BGC, GotSoul MNL is an urban Hi-Fi listening space that shifts from a soulful dining spot by day to a sleek listening and tapas bar by night. Founded by Jojo Flores with a crew of hospitality and music heavyweights, including Chef Chele Gonzalez, it pairs modern Spanish-inspired tapas with Filipino notes, alongside a strong wine and cocktail program. Come for the food, stay for the selector-led sets.

Pluck
Follow the orange glow in Mandaluyong and you’ll find Pluck, a new shared concept by three culinary minds: Pat Curitana of Los Tacos, Ralph Sy of Goods from Scratch, and Butz Tenchavez of Gran Hacienda Wines. Together, they’ve created an eclectic restaurant built around a menu of small plates meant for sharing. A clear highlight and a nod to the restaurant’s name is the signature rotisserie chicken, marinated in koji and served with charred cabbage leaves, chimichurri, and rich chicken jus.

Sala by Seva
Popular San Juan dining spot Seva, known for its global cuisine by husband-and-wife chef team Neil Dy and Amanda Hao, is expanding with the opening of a new “sala.” Sala by Seva is an intimate new space within the restaurant, a cool, vibey speakeasy featuring an inventive cocktail program by Head of Beverage Juliana Guzman. Expect boundary-pushing creations such as the Whisky Tea & Cheese and the Balsamic Sour, surprising combinations that challenge expectations while showcasing a playful approach to mixology.

Baka Ramen
Looking to enjoy a simple bowl of ramen alongside a cold Sapporo beer, just as it’s done in Japan? That’s the charm of Baka Ramen, a hidden ramen bar in Makati City where flavor takes center stage. Free from gimmicks, the focus is on clean, comforting bowls—clear yet flavorful broths paired with perfectly textured noodles. The menu is intentionally concise, but each bowl can be tailored to your liking with additions like eggs or extra pork, reflecting the Japanese philosophy of personalizing a humble, everyday meal to suit one’s appetite.

Hikiniku To Come Philippines
Thanks to the Standard Group, Japan’s cult-favorite Hikiniku to Come—the original hamburg-over-rice concept—has officially landed in BGC. Expect freshly ground beef patties grilled over binchotan charcoal, paired with perfectly cooked Japanese rice and unlimited housemade condiments like its fan-favorite lemon salt. Each diner even gets a personal grill to keep the hamburg hot (or cook it further), making the experience as interactive as it is precise.
