The Cultural Center of the Philippines is accepting public nominations for the Gawad CCP Para sa Sining Award until July 31.
The Cultural Center of the Philippines has opened nominations for the Gawad CCP Para sa Sining, the country’s most prestigious award for artists and cultural workers. The public has until July 31, 2026, to submit candidates. After deliberations, the CCP will hold the awarding ceremony in September 2027 at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo, the CCP Main Theater.
First formalized in 1988, the award recognizes Filipino artists every three years across architecture, dance, film and broadcast arts, literature, music, theater, and visual arts. Beyond the cash gift, citation, and medal, it represents the institutional stamp of the country’s cultural flagship on a body of work that has shaped Philippine artistic life.

Casting A Wide Net
The award does not limit itself to a single idea of excellence. Category A honors nationally recognized artists who have consistently produced outstanding work or evolved a distinct style that influenced peers across the country.
Meanwhile, Category B turns its attention to the regions, recognizing artists whose work has enriched local or provincial culture and drawn national or international attention to indigenous forms.
Category C, on the other hand, extends the honor to researchers, curators, and arts administrators whose behind-the-scenes contributions have shaped Philippine culture;
Additionally, a special citation called the Tanging Parangal ng CCP goes to individuals or organizations from the government or private sector whose support of the arts has meaningfully shaped cultural life nationwide.
To qualify, nominees must have at least 20 years of active practice. Their body of work must also trace back to 1969, the founding year of the CCP.
The Road to Recognition
From May through August, the CCP validates all nominations. Then, in September, a first deliberation panel chaired by the CCP President shortlists the strongest candidates. Subsequently, the CCP Board of Trustees conducts the final deliberation in January 2027, with winners announced in the third week of that month.
How to Nominate
