The chef’s nonprofit World Central Kitchen (WCK) cooks thousands of fresh meals to Ukrainian families either leaving their homes or staying in the country.

At least 2,155,271 refugees have fled Ukraine since February 24, according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Many of whom, WCK points out, travel for days without food.

In light of Russia’s invasion, the kitchen began serving meals at a 24-hour pedestrian border crossing in southern Poland. They have since expanded to eight border crossings across Ukraine.

Food served includes the likes of freshly baked bread, pasta, ramen, and sandwiches, among others.

Additionally, WCK is supporting local restaurants in eight Ukrainian cities including the capital of Kyiv. They have also deployed teams on the ground in Romania, Moldova, and Hungary.

“As the situation continues to evolve, WCK will continue to help in the best way we know how, with a freshly prepared plate of food—and we’re ready to expand our support for families in need,” the kitchen said.
