“Twitter’s current lords & peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bull… Power to the people! Blue for $8/month,” Musk posted.

Musk elaborated on how Twitter will adjust the price by country proportionate to purchasing power parity.

He then added how the premium verified badge will feature half as many ads, the ability to post long video and audio, and priority in replies, mentions, and searches.

The self-proclaimed “Twitter Complaint Hotline Operator” said the measure will push through regardless of any backlash.

Verified users have since opposed the proposed policy, saying it is a problem of principle rather than price.
