Andrea Riseborough will still compete in the Oscars “Best Actress in a Leading Role” category for her performance in To Leslie.

This comes after the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences reviewed an aggressive awards campaign on behalf of Riseborough.

After which it announced that it will not revoke her nomination for the “little-seen film.”

The underwhelming reception of To Leslie surprised Oscars stakeholders who did not expect Riseborough to secure a nod.

The “surprise” nomination led to speculation whether the Oscars campaign for Riseborough had violated the Academy’s lobbying rules.

“[The Academy] has determined the activity in question does not rise to the level that the film’s nomination should be rescinded,” chief executive officer Bill Kramer said.
