Wolfgang Puck prepared an extensive menu for this year’s Governors Ball, an Oscars afterparty occasion he has catered for since 1995.
Renowned Austrian-American chef Wolfgang Puck will provide catering to the Academy Awards’ Governors Ball. Since 1995, he has served Hollywood’s greatest talents with a menu brimming with world-class, delectable treats. Whether or not the Oscars attendees follow a strict vegetarian diet or not, the celebrated restaurateur assures that the menu will satisfy everyone.
Here are a couple of dishes that Puck’s WP Catering will serve guests on Hollywood’s most awaited night.
Governors Ball classics and favorites
Guests will indulge in the highly-coveted 24-karat gold-dusted chocolate Oscars, which takes about three hours to make. These take time to make as its process is dependent on certain temperatures before sitting on the Oscars mold. Puck’s team sprays edible gold on the chocolates which thousands of guests can relish at the Governors Ball.
The chef revealed that the Oscars attendees’ most desirable is the black truffle chicken pot pie, which would make a return this year. Known lovers of this dish are Barbra Streisand and Prince Albert II of Monaco.
The smoked salmon Oscars matzah also makes a comeback this year and is molded, sliced, and seasoned to perfection. “We have a cookie cutter made just like [the Oscars symbol] that,” Puck said. “We slice the salmon really thin and then we cut it out.”
Clarendelle & Domaine Clarence Dillon will provide the red and white wines for the night while Petite Fleur de Miraval rose and Don Julio will supply tequila cocktails.
Everyone will enjoy
He gave a short walk through of some of the menu items that guests will indulge in after the Academy Awards. The chef showed some of the desserts like variations of chocolate eclairs, the piña colada baba au rum, macarons, and more in an Instagram reel.
“We also have the Miyazaki beef, we’re going to grill it and serve it with a cauliflower purée, [and] ponzu sauce,” he explained. “We’re also going to have pasta with truffles; peking duck, look how beautiful this one is; paella, if you like Spanish food; tuna tartare in a miso cone; and chicken pot pie, everyone’s favorite.”
He added macaroni and cheese as another crowd pleaser. The chef even joked that whoever wins will get the Grand Marnier chocolate cigars with smoking ashes from him.
WP Catering provided menu items for those who are following dietary restrictions or are opting for vegan choices. Their sweet potato pavé with house made kimchi, kung pao cauliflower stuffed coconut charcoal bao bun, edamame mushroom carrot potstickers are available. Pastas like the cacio e pepe macaroni and cheese as well as the English pea agnolotti will satisfy vegetarian attendees too. Plant-based desserts like mayer lemon crinkle cookies, a traditional snowball, toasted oat milk and cookies, and chocolate Oscar pops with Scotch ganache are also on the menu.
“Everybody’s going to be happy,” he commented.
30 years of service
Puck will serve his 30th Governors Ball for 1,500 guests on March 10, after the Academy Awards.
The highly-acclaimed chef said they know how much supplies they need to feed thousands of people due to years of experience. He assured the leftovers will go to the homeless.
“Can you believe, this year I’m doing the Governors Ball for the 30th time?” he announced. “So I’ll see you all on the red carpet.”
