The Australian actor will be traveling to Metro Manila to promote the Asia-Pacific red carpet premiere of his Netflix action movie, “Extraction 2.”
Chris Hemsworth is known as the actor who played the role of Asgardian god and superhero, Thor, in the Marvel cinematic universe way back in 2011. His performance was so well-received that the franchise went on to make three more movies with the lord of thunder, namely Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, and Thor: Love and Thunder.
Since then, the Australian actor has continued to rise in popularity with his memorable roles in other Hollywood hits like Snow White and the Huntsman, Star Trek, and Men In Black: International, just to name a few.
His role as a cutthroat mercenary in the 2020 Netflix film Extraction also earned him plenty of praise, with critics on Rotten Tomatoes describing his performance as an “electric” one with “spectacular” stunts.

The movie’s success even gave way to a highly-anticipated sequel, Extraction 2, with Sam Hargrave reprising his role as director, and the Russo brothers returning as screenwriters. It’ll be available for streaming on June 16 via Netflix. What’s more, in a recent announcement video, Hemsworth revealed that he will be paying a visit to Metro Manila next month.
“I’ll be flying to Manila this June for the premiere of Extraction 2, where I play Tyler Rake,” he said in the short clip. “I don’t want you to miss out, so please come join me. It’ll be fun! Can’t wait to see you all there soon, take care.”
The star will also be joined by director Sam Hargrave during the much-awaited visit.
Other details such as the venue of Hemsworth’s visit and press tours, as well as the exact date and time, have yet to be announced.
The Story of a Mercenary
Extraction is an action/thriller movie that premiered on Netflix in 2020. It stars Hemsworth as the main character Tyler Rake, as well as Golshifteh Farahani, Randeep Hooda, David Harbour, and Neha Mahajan. Its official IMDb summary reads: “Tyler Rake, a fearless black market mercenary, embarks on the most deadly extraction of his career when he’s enlisted to rescue the kidnapped son of an imprisoned international crime lord.”
The events of the first movie left rake with serious injuries, and the rest of the world presuming he’s dead. However, the mercenary still has plenty of more things to do.
“After barely surviving his grievous wounds from his mission in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Tyler Rake is back, and his team is ready to take on their next mission. Tasked with extracting a family who is at the mercy of a Georgian gangster, Tyler infiltrates one of the world’s deadliest prisons in order to save them. But when the extraction gets hot, and the gangster dies in the heat of battle, his equally ruthless brother tracks down Rake and his team to Sydney, in order to get revenge,” describes the sequel’s IMDb summary.
Fans of Hemsworth who haven’t watched the movies yet need not worry about missing out; they still have ample time to catch up with their thrilling stories before the actor visits the country in the coming month.
