Soon after filming ‘Rocky,’ the actor fell in love with watch collecting which became a decades-long passion.
Sylvester Stallone has come a long way since his breakthrough role as the boxer Rocky Balboa. Aside from acting, he has also gone on to write, direct, and produce films.
Now, he’s showing the world the extent of his coveted watch collection. He’s set to auction off 11 of his precious timepieces in June in New York.

Timeless Treasure
Among the watches, the highlight is his Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime. According to the auction house, it is the world’s most complicated wristwatch and a “holy grail” in the watch community.
There are only seven models of the Grandmaster Chime, with its mechanisms taking 100,000 hours to develop, produce, and assemble. Due to its rarity and intricacy, Stallone’s watch is expected to sell for as much as $5 million.
Stallone’s Grandmaster Chime is the first example to ever appear at auction. According to the actor, he has never worn the rare handmade piece since he took it home. Other pieces up for auction include ones that Stallone has worn in his films.
A Lifelong Passion
“It’s not about the time, it’s about the sense of accomplishment,” Stallone stated, thinking back to when someone compared his Rolex to their $3 watch, saying they both did the same thing anyway.
“That’s what watch collecting is to me. It’s not about keeping time, it’s about keeping step with where you are in life.”
Other notable watches include another Patek Philippe piece, this time from the Nautilus family. It is expected to sell for up to $100,000. His Rolex Day-Date, released in 2016, was created to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the model. The auction house places its high estimate at $50,000.
Meanwhile, an Audemars Piguet piece, created for the 50th anniversary of the Royal Oak in 2022, could sell for up to $200,000. The collection also features several Panerai watches. Stallone has often worn this brand, even onscreen in Daylight and The Expendables.
“I don’t buy anything unless I really feel drawn to it,” Stallone explained. “The one thing that seems pervasive over all of these watches is that they attract me emotionally. I think they’re rather bold statements and they just strike me at the right time.”
