The Ambani-Merchant wedding drew a plethora of A-listers from Hollywood, Bollywood, and world leaders, adding to the event’s glamor and prestige.

The Ambani-Merchant wedding captured the world’s attention as it transformed into a high-profile spectacle that seamlessly fused opulence, tradition, and the allure of star-studded guests. Bollywood’s biggest stars, political and business figures, and Hollywood A-listers celebrated the couple’s union with the festivities’ cultural grandeur. It has set a new benchmark for high-profile celebrations, making it one of the most talked-about events of the year. Anant Ambani wed Radhika Merchant on Friday, July 12. The couple held their spectacular ceremony at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, as reported by Times of India.

World leaders and tycoons at the Ambani-Merchant wedding

A convergence of world leaders and business magnates across the globe mingled with guests at the Ambani-Merchant wedding. 

Notable figures from global politics graced the occasion, including former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair with his wife, Cherie, as reported by The Guardian. Forbes noted the attendances of former US Secretary of State John Kerry, alongside former Prime Ministers Boris Johnson of the U.K., Stephen Harper of Canada, and Matteo Renzi of Italy. Adding to the prestigious guest list was World Trade Organization Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

The Guardian highlighted the presence of FIFA President Gianni Infanto with his family, too. Meanwhile, luminaries like Amin Nasser of Aramco, Shantanu Narayen of Adobe, Murray Auchincloss of BP, Jay Y. Lee of Samsung Electronics, and James Taiclet of Lockheed Martin were also present in the opulent event.

Justin Bieber

Entertainment Tonight (ET) reported that “Ghost” singer Justin Bieber performed at the pre-wedding festivities of the Ambani-Merchant wedding. He released a couple of photos and videos where he serenaded the crowd. 

ET mentioned that Bieber received $10 million to perform during the pre-wedding affair. 

Bieber posted a photo of himself with the soon-to-be-married couple. While the “Peaches” singer has not yet revealed whether or not he attended the high-profile nuptials, he was among the Hollywood A-listers who went to Mumbai to celebrate the couple.

Kim and Khloe Kardashian

Kim and Khloe Kardashian also graced the Ambani-Merchant wedding with their presence. In a series of Instagram stories (which have now expired), the sisters showed how they prepared for India’s wedding of the year.

“We’re going to a wedding,” Kim said as she showed off her outfit.

A report from HELLO Magazine said the sisters wore traditional Indian outfits. Kim was dressed in a sparkling red lehenga with intricate beadwork, tassel detailing, a cropped top, and a dupatta, or a long shawl-like scarf. Khloe donned a gold and white lehenga, a long-sleeve off-shoulder top, gold accessories, and a matching maang tikka (Indian jewelry).

People suggested that Kim may have broken traditional Indian wedding etiquette, as the color red is typically reserved for brides.

Kim added in an Instagram story that both she and Khloe were lucky to have traveled together.

The sisters also stayed on for the post-wedding festivities. 

John Cena

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) star John Cena traveled to Mumbai for the Ambani-Merchant wedding. He was seen mingling with guests and enjoying the festivities, showcasing his appreciation for the invitation as well as witnessing the pulsating culture of India firsthand.

Indian Express reported that the WWE star greeted and shook hands with business tycoon Mukesh Ambani, father of the groom. 

He also participated in the baarat (or barat), or a wedding procession for the groom. He shook his leg on the dhol beats and hugged one of the guests in the procession.

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas

Among the illustrious list of guests at the Ambani-Merchant wedding is celebrity couple Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas. Chopra wore a yellow lehenga choli set while Jonas looked dapper in his sherwani, a knee-length buttoned coat, as per Times of India.

“Clearly I missed chaat and dancing at baraats!” Chopra expressed in an Instagram post. “What a special night it was celebrating two of the kindest, most gracious people I know.”

Bollywood stars in attendance

Bollywood’s most celebrated personalities did not miss India’s wedding of the year! Guests include renowned filmmaker Karan Johar; actor and producer Shah Rukh Khan with his wife Gauri and children Suhana and Aryan; and actress and television personality Madhuri Dixit. Indian actress Ananya Panday also came to the Ambani-Merchant nuptials.

The attendance of prominent Indian icons highlighted the wedding’s significance within the entertainment industry. It also underscored the deep connection between the Ambani family and Bollywood’s elite.
