Richard Go and Ariana Coronel have mastered the art of accepting each other’s differences and growing together as a couple.
This is an excerpt from Lifestyle Asia’s June 2023 Issue.
Having known each other since their college days, Richard Go and Ariana Coronel are familiar with their differing personalities. “Richard is relaxed and laid back while Ariana tends to be a perfectionist,” the couple says. They’ve made the relationship work through the years, respecting their individual goals and allowing each other to be their true selves.

I KNEW I LOVED YOU BEFORE I MET YOU
The couple first met at their freshman orientation in Ateneo de Manila University where they were blockmates and eventually ended up in the same group of friends. But it was only five years after graduation when they finally started dating and officially became a couple.
As a couple, Richard and Ariana aren’t the clingiest pair, having survived two years in a long distance relationship. “We love to spend time together but both value each other’s individuality so giving each other enough space and time to grow has been a natural priority for us,” Ariana tells Lifestyle Asia.
They’re also the best of friends who value the everyday moments above all, whether it be watching their favorite sitcoms together or eating at their go-to restaurants. “On weekends, we normally play golf… that way we’re forced to spend the entire day together,” they share with a laugh. “When we travel, it’s usually to head to an island destination.”
IN YOUR EYES, I SEE MY FUTURE
On their fifth anniversary, Ariana was prepared to spend it like any other day in their relationship, chilling together at home then going out for a nice dinner. But Richard had other plans.
Before heading out to dinner, he played a video he created for his proposal featuring their relationship from friends to lovers in the last 10 years. The video was set to the tune of “I Knew I Loved You” by Savage Garden, a fitting song to describe their story.
Richard and Ariana officially tied the knot on May 5, 2023. “Cinco de Mayo, which explained why tequila was the best selling liquor of the night,” they joke. The ceremony took place at Santuario de San Antonio Parish while the celebration continued at Conrad Manila for the reception.
Though there were 650 guests at the wedding, their event stylist Badang Rueda still managed to make the venue feel warm and intimate, which is exactly what the newlyweds asked for.
