Taylor Swift Pays Tribute To Three Olympic Athletes

Simone Biles, Katie Ledecky, and Sha’Carri Richardson are all standouts at the Paris Olympics.

NBC Sports posted a new video honoring three of this year’s standout Olympians: gymnast Simone Biles, swimmer Katie Ledecky, and sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson. While the video is not yet available in the Philippines, it is set to Taylor Swift’s “Style,” from the re-released version of her album 1989. It opens with a quote from Parisian designer Coco Chanel, “Every day is a fashion show and the world is your runway.”

“Never be afraid to show them who you are. Especially when the whole world is watching,” Swift narrates, alongside clips of the three women competing in Paris.

“Because there’s no one way to be the best. No one way to inspire everyone else who will someday follow. You do what you love, you love what you do. You believe in your style, whatever it is.

“Katie, Sha’Carri, and Simone. Three American stars, three different visions of greatness, tonight in Paris,” the singer concludes.

Ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics, NBC Sports posted another video featuring a pop superstar. In Cowboy Carter attire, Beyoncé introduced the Team USA athletes, including the three women in the latest video.

Olympic Feats

In the Olympics clips from the “Style” video, Ledecky is called the “best female swimmer of all time.” A commentator described Richardson as “the most captivating sprinter in the world” while another said “someone get this girl a crown,” referring to Biles.

Ledecky recently tied with a 60-year-old record set by artistic gymnast Larisa Latynina. Both of them are the female athletes with the most Olympic gold medals in any sport.

On August 3, the swimmer won her fourth consecutive gold in the women’s 800m freestyle, bumping up her tally to nine Olympic gold medals. She’s also the first female swimmer to win gold at four Olympic Games.

Fan favorite Richardson made her Olympic debut this year, winning her heat in the women’s 100-meter prelims with ease.

During the women’s 100-meter final, singer Adele even paused her Munich concert to show Richardson’s race. The entire venue cheered as the sprinter won her first Olympic medal after she finished second.

Biles also had a spectacular run at the Paris Olympics, nabbing gold medals in the Team, All-around, and Vault events. She also won a silver medal in the floor exercise competition.

The gymnast won her All-around world champion title after performing a floor routine to Swift’s 2017 hit “…Ready For It?” She has been using the song for weeks leading up to the Paris Olympics.

Swift commented on a video of her floor routine back in June, saying “Watched this so many times and still unready. She’s ready for it tho.”
