Fifteen years after the release of The Devil Wears Prada, its main cast is set to reunite through a Zoom call for a good cause.
Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci will all be present during the online meeting. One lucky fan can join in the 10-minute long call to interact with the A-list cast, but must win the online bidding first to do so.
The initiative is for the benefit of the Lollipop Theater Network, which is a non-profit organization that brings entertainment to children in hospitals across the US. The group is also celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
“We are so thrilled to be celebrating with our amazing partners at Charitybuzz and the incredibly talented cast of [the movie],” says Evelyn Iocolano, Lollipop Theater Network’s executive director in a statement via a Variety report.
They have seen the tremendous impact that these kinds of interactions have on our young patients, Iocaolano says, and now one lucky bidder will have the chance to experience it themselves, all while contributing much-needed funds to keep their programs up and running.
The winner of the bid can ask whatever burning questions they may have for the cast and the characters they played: Streep as Runway magazine‘s powerful New York-based editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly; Hathaway as fresh-out-of-college graduate and Priestly’s assistant Andrea “Andy” Sachs; Blunt as fellow assistant, fashion-conscious and, gossipy Emily Charlton; and Tucci as art director Nigel Kipling.
Released in 2006, Devil Wears Prada is an adaptation of the 2003 novel of the same name and revolves around Andy, a young graduate aspiring to be a journalist. She comes to New York and instead becomes an assistant to ruthless and cynical Priestly, who is one of the city’s biggest magazine editors.
The film received positive reviews from critics. This earned Streep an Oscar nomination for Best Actress, as well as a win of a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical. Blunt also received nominations for her performance.
As of July 28, the bidding stands at $16,000 via Charity Buzz. Bids can go as high as $50,000 and can be submitted until August 3 only.
