Based on the famous Filipino coming-of-age film, “Bagets The Musical,” is set to run in early 2026.
Bagets made waves when it first premiered in 1984, becoming a defining coming-of-age film for an entire generation of Filipino adolescents. Besides helping launch the careers of famous performers like Aga Muhlach, Eula Valdez, Raymond Lauchengco, and JC Bonnin, it also presented a relatable tale of friendship, love, and mischief that captured a particular zeitgeist. Now, the touchstone film is ready to reach a new generation of audiences and performers with an all-new stage adaptation: Bagets The Musical.

Auditions are now open for the upcoming production, inviting a fresh generation of young talented performers to be a part of the iconic barkada’s story. Auditions will be held on July 14 from 1 PM to 6 PM, and on July 15 from 1 PM to 4 PM at the PETA Theater Center Studios, Quezon City.
Those interested must accomplish the official form on or before July 10 at https://forms.gle/rw1ZytRdzuQ1F2k99. They must also submit their latest CV, a head shot, and a full-body photo. Casting is open to males and females aged 15 to 50 years old who can sing, act, and dance.
Aspirants must prepare 16 bars of a pop ballad, 16 bars of an upbeat 1980s song, and a 16-bar dance routine. Principal roles include Tonton, Adie, Gilbert, Topee, and Arnel, along with ensemble parts portraying classmates, teachers, and family members.
Bagets The Musical is scheduled to run from January to March 2026 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Newport World Resorts. The stage production is a joint production of Viva Entertainment, The Philippine STAR, and Newport World Resorts.
Rehearsals will take place from November 2025 to January 2026, with performances every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
