5 Stationery Stores To Shop For All Your Supplies

By

Pens, paper, stickers, and everything in between, these stationery havens are a dream for anyone who loves journaling, scrapbooking, and all things analog.

The local stationery scene looks vastly different from what it did a decade ago. As more people rediscover the pleasure of analog crafts and writing (and as access to imports from leading manufacturers has become far easier) a growing number of specialty shops have emerged, offering everything one will need for quality journaling, scrapbooking, letter writing, and more. From notepads and journals to stickers, cute-but-functional carrying cases, inks, and even fountain pens, we’ve gathered a few spots to check out on your next supply run.

Scribe

This list wouldn’t be complete without the OG. One could argue that Scribe pioneered the modern specialty stationery store as we know it today—and it’s still going strong, with branches in SM Megamall, SM Aura, and Eastwood Mall (the oldest among the three). The brand also recently launched its new creative space and store, Studio by Scribe, which sells an assortment of fine stationery products from its stocks while serving as an events venue for activities like workshops.

I recall that, as recently as the mid-2000s, finding a shop that carried a wide range of fountain pens from places like Taiwan (TWSBI), Italy (Visconti), Germany (LAMY and Pelikan), and Japan (Sailor, Platinum, and the like) was no easy feat, save for the reliable National Bookstore, which at the time mainly stocked Parker and the occasional LAMY. Scribe changed the game, offering not only fountain pens spanning beginner-friendly to premium models, but also a thoughtfully selected range of inks from trusted, well-loved brands.

Not much has changed since: at any given Scribe branch, you’ll still find all these and more. Beyond fountain pens and inks, the shop carries markers, colored pencils, adorable Japanese stamps (some of the finest you’ll find on the market), functional yet beautiful carrying cases for all your supplies, stickers, tapes, and office tools (often made cuter and more ergonomic). The store’s friendly and knowledgeable staff are always happy to guide customers through their stationery purchases (they’re very good at the art of budol, but no complaints), and Scribe continues to keep pace with the latest in all things stationery, refreshing its selection as needed. It’s also one of the few brick-and-mortar stores where you can reliably purchase Hobonichi and Traveler’s Company planners (plus accessories) as they’re released each year.

Everything Calligraphy

Everything Calligraphy is another go-to for excellent stationery finds, many of which are surprisingly hard to come by elsewhere in the city. Run by a passionate team that genuinely cares about quality, the shop’s roster of supplies is nothing short of immaculate.

You can shop online through their website, which also offers helpful recommendations for enthusiasts at different stages of their stationery journey. Like Scribe, the store carries a strong selection of fountain pens, but it truly shines in its extensive lineup of cases, fine papers, and inks. Here, you’ll find sought-after Japanese papers from Tomoe River, Midori, and Yamamoto, alongside other established favorites like Rhodia and Clairefontaine.

For those who prefer browsing in person, Everything Calligraphy welcomes visitors to its warehouse at 219 Barasoain Street, Barangay Little Baguio, San Juan City. They also host periodic warehouse sales, where you can score generous deals across much of their catalog. Notably, the store is the official retailer of Vinta, the proudly Philippine-made fountain pen ink brand. With colors inspired by the country’s literature, mythology, and culture, it’s a must-try for anyone keen to support local.

Analogue Lab

Analogue Lab is a go-to for those who prefer to do all their stationery shopping online; it’s ideal if you already have a clear idea of what you’re looking for and simply want the convenience of having it delivered straight to your door. While the previous two stores on this list also offer online shopping, Analogue Lab operates exclusively online and boasts a nice selection of supplies from cult-favorite stationery and lifestyle brands around the world.

Its lineup includes King Jim, Penco, Kakimori, Shachihata (stamp lovers, rejoice), Oeda Letterpress (perfect for writing heartfelt Valentine’s letters) and, of course, Traveler’s Company. If you’re on the hunt for a very specific accessory or hard-to-find item that isn’t readily available elsewhere, this is the place to check—you just might find it here.

Common Room

Common Room has become a cozy, must-visit spot for all things arts and crafts. It offers stamps, inks, twine, kraft tape, paint supplies, specialty papers, and pretty much whatever you need for a great deal of hobbies. What makes it quite special is its focus on local artisans or brands, since it works alongside Filipino artists, selling selections of their products as a one-stop-shop for gift giving (pins, postcards and prints, keychains, and the like). Its range of stickers, for instance, are adorable: great for journaling, but also wonderful decorations for other items like laptops and tumblers.

You can shop through their website, or visit one of their brick-and-mortar stores in Opus Mall, The Atrium Makati, UP Town Center, Power Plant Mall, Alabang Town Center, and Ayala Malls Manila Bay.

Pulp & Pigment

Like Common Room, Pulp & Pigment is another player in the art supply, stationery, and lifestyle space. The store aims to become a “haven for creatives of all kinds,” and features an impressive roster of carefully curated, high-quality materials. Here, you’ll find a range of art and writing implements suited to your journaling needs, including notebooks and accessories from the Japanese brand Penco. Watercolor and acrylic enthusiasts will also delight in its selection of paints from esteemed brands such as Winsor & Newton, and Liquitex.
