The Manila Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) returns to the Samsung Performing Arts Theater this November with MPO Rocks!, a first-of-its-kind symphonic rock concert featuring covers of rock hits and OPM classics.
Who knew that power ballads and symphonies could speak the same language? The Manila Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) certainly did—and they’re ready to share that discovery with Filipino music lovers on November 29, 2025. MPO Rocks! is a first-of-its-kind symphonic rock concert that will have you headbanging not only to timeless rock anthems, but also to beloved OPM staples.
Fresh from the sold-out success of their 25th anniversary concert, the MPO (long celebrated as the country’s leading orchestra) continues to push boundaries. With their commitment to enriching the cultural landscape through a diverse repertoire, MPO Rocks! marks yet another bold step in their journey.
Joining them on stage at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater are the internationally acclaimed Philippine Madrigal Singers, celebrated vocalist Bituin Escalante, and Mig Ayesa, lead singer of a Queen tribute band. Together, they’ll bring symphonic power to the music of the Eraserheads, Queen, Coldplay, and My Chemical Romance—songs you know and love, reimagined like never before.

An Evening Of Rock And Good
Leading MPO Rocks! is Manila Phiharmonic Orchestra founder Maestro Rodel Colmenar, returning to the group to realize his decades-long dream of a rock orchestra.
“During my time with the orchestra, I often wondered how rock music would sound when combined with orchestral arrangements,” shared Colmenar in a statement. “I want the audience to experience a different side of the symphony orchestra and see what makes the MPO stand out from other groups.”
Beyond a night of band tees and head-bangin’ rock anthems, MPO Rocks! stays true to the orchestra’s advocacy. Part of the proceeds from the evening will benefit the PARC Foundation’s PARC Aralan program, which helps underprivileged scholars hone their musical talents. After all, what’s more rock ’n’ roll than changing lives through music?
