Beauty Break: Burberry Re-Imagines Its London Flagship into a Wes Anderson-Like Wonderland

Riccardo Tisci’s move to Burberry provided a good shock to many fashion lovers. The former Givenchy haute couture creative director re-invented the brand for the modern world, and many became fans of his gothic style and space-age minimalism. At as the new head of Burberry, many look forward to seeing the “Tisci Touch”. The 44-year-old designer has already started making changes, first with the newly opened London flagship store located at 121 Regent Street, which has transformed to match his first collection for the British fashion house. For this week’s Beauty Break, we look at the flagship store, which kind of reminds us of Wes Anderson meets modern industrial…

Each room at the flagship store is now individually themed and designed, as a way of celebrating Burberry’s past and future through products. For instance, there is a room dedicated solely to the Vintage check. There are also rooms for The Heritage Trench and the car coat, amongst others. The building, which was originally a theater, also plays an important role with the store’s theme. For example, each room is wrapped with draped curtains and thick carpeted floors. Tisci has come a long way from his black and white aesthetic for Givenchy. He has chosen hues inspired by trench coats, which were then complimented by accents of light pink and pistachio (The Grand Budapest Hotel, anyone?) for the store. Plywood provides an interesting choice for the fixtures, adding a great contract and texture to space.

The Regent Street store is the only physical store in the world you can purchase pieces from Tisci’s debut collection for Burberry. This collection of limited-edition designs for men and women will also be available via Instagram and WeChat. In the Philippines, Burberry is located at Greenbelt 4 and Rustan’s Shangri-La.
