Blooms On Blooms: Carolina Herrera’s Secret Garden Is A Breath Of Fresh Air

Carolina Herrera unveils a vibrant and blossoming secret garden at New York Fashion Week.

In a report by Reuters, Carolina Herrera “unfurled blossoms at New York Fashion Week with a collection that plays with the fresh colors of an unkempt garden.”

“I like this idea of creating a garden for a spring collection,” said creative director Wes Gordon, whose inspired by his favorite childhood book, The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. An archival floral fabric book was also one of the inspirations. Gordon adds, “The secret comes from the injections of black and the touches of the black accessories, giving it that little bit of mystery and sensuality.”

“Carolina Herrera breathed spring back to life at its New York Fashion Week show with a romantic portrayal of nature and beauty, accentuating that the brand’s modern and striking feminine aesthetics work for every woman throughout the seasons and decades,” according to an article in Berkshire Eagle.

Gordon shares that “in a world that can be dark and scary and unpredictable, it’s okay for some things to just be pure joy and beauty.”

Another report said that models Stella Maxwell and Karlie Kloss had two separate looks, with Maxwell shining in a mini yellow taxicab-colored floral dress while Kloss bloomed in a long sleeve, yellow peony trench gown.

In addition, on the front row were Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, Martha Stewart and singers Ellie Goulding, Sabrina Carpenter and Becky G.

Gordon emphasized that Herrera’s ability to evolve each season stems from the brand’s “ability to listen, specifically to women.”

“It’s not hard to evolve with the times if you just pay attention to women who wear your clothes,” Gordon shared.
