In anticipation for the new season, here’s a look back at the places already featured in The White Lotus and the locations we’re looking forward to seeing. Who knows, you may want to add some of these destinations to your own bucket list as well!

Holiday in Hawaii

Most of the show’s first season took place at a fictitious resort in Hawaii. In reality, filming was done at Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea.

The production crew was able to maximize the space, redressing its offices, restaurants, spa, rooms, and more to turn it into the White Lotus hotel as we know it.

In the first episode, when the guests arrived by yacht, it seemed like the location was just a short walk away from the hotel itself. Instead, that scene actually took place at Olowalu Landing, a 40-minute drive away from the Four Seasons.

Idyllic Italy

For the second season, the cast and crew flew to Sicily, Italy to film at San Domenico Palace in Taormina. According to the hotel’s website, its structure was once a 14th-century convent reimagined into a luxury getaway.

The resort features a cliff top infinity pool overlooking the ocean and Mount Etna. The exterior, reception area, piano bar, and outdoor restaurant remained mostly unchanged during filming.

In the first season, the characters usually stayed at the hotel the whole time. This is due to the fact that filming took place during the COVID pandemic. The lockdown made it difficult for the cast and crew to move to different locations.

This time, the series was able to explore more of Sicily. We had characters visiting the small island of Isola Bella, the town of Cefalù where most of the beach scenes were filmed, Villa Tasca where Daphne (Meghann Fahy) and Harper (Aubrey Plaza) had their girls night, and Palermo where Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge) is invited to a lavish party.

Next Stop, Thailand

The upcoming third season of The White Lotus will officially take place in Thailand. The cast, including Parker Posey, Carrie Coon and Jason Isaacs, will be filming at Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui for three months.

While the plotline is still unknown, some characters will be visiting the temples in Phuket. These characters will probably be staying at the Anantara Mai Khao Villas Phuket, as the location has been fully booked for a couple of months that aren’t peak travel season.

Anantara consists of 113 pool villas inspired by traditional Thai villages. Surrounded by nature, its award-winning restaurant is situated in a large treehouse that overlooks the tranquil lagoon.

Wherever the third season takes its characters, it’s sure to be a wild ride featuring scenic locations.
