The moon might be off kilter in Roland Emerich’s newest sci-fi disaster film, but it has a star on the wrists of one of its leads.

Patrick Wilson, who plays former NASA astronaut Brian Harper, is seen wearing Omega’s 42mm Speedmaster Moonwatch in Moonfall. In a 30-second teaser for the movie, Harper notes that moon debris fall on the earth and clicks on the stainless steel watch after someone gives him a deadline of 28 minutes.
According to Omega, the Speedmaster Moonwatch is “one of the world’s most iconic timepieces. Having been a part of all six moon landings, the legendary chronograph is an impressive representation of the brand’s adventurous pioneering spirit.”
The watch is presented on a brushed five-arched-links-per-row bracelet, and features hesalite glass on the front. A Seahorse medallion, on the other hand, is embossed on the caseback.
It is inspired by the fourth generation Speedmaster that was worn on the moon. The watch also includes an asymmetrical case, black step dial and the famous dot over 90 on the anodised aluminium bezel ring.
Driven by Omega’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861, the timepiece is powered by the small seconds sub-dial, 30-minute recorder and 12-hour recorder, along with the central chronograph function.
All these advancements can only help Harper, who, along with Jo Folwer (Halle Berry) and KC Houseman (John Bradley), fight to keep disaster at bay.
In the action-packed film, an unknown force knocks the moon from its orbit, setting into on a collision course for earth. They find out that the moon is not what it seems in the course of their mission.
“Well, it was just the idea that the moon is not what you think it is,” Emerich says of what drew him to the movie. “That somebody must have built it. Which is crazy and amazing, right? Then you learn who built it, which I cannot give away.”
Produced by Lionsgate, Moonfall is set to be released in the United States next month.
