E.T. Phone Home

Who would have thought we would get two incredibly realistic E.T. costumes this year? Queens of Halloween Janelle Monáe and Heidi Klum both chose to dress up as the friendly alien.

Featured on The Hollywood Reporter ahead of Halloween, Monáe delved into her obsession with the holiday. “What I want people to see and to remember about me is that I wasn’t afraid to look silly. I wasn’t afraid to investigate my fears and turn it into a costume. I’m not afraid to transform,” she shared.

The woman behind one of the biggest annual Halloween bashes in the entertainment world, Klum, also transformed into E.T. while matching with her husband Tom Kaulitz. According to The New York Times, it took the model over seven hours to get into costume, complete with a motorized headpiece that blinked and moved as she spoke.

Uma Thurman Inspired

Paris Hilton, always one to go all out on Halloween, had several costumes this year. Her first look was Uma Thurman’s character in Pulp Fiction. “Serving Mia Wallace realness,” she wrote on Instagram

Her other costumes included Britney Spears in her “Baby One More Time” music video, Glinda from Wicked, and Rainbow Brite.

Meanwhile, at Vas J. Morgan And Michael Braun’s Halloween party, model Lori Harvey went as another iconic Uma Thurman character, The Bride from Kill Bill. Hilton even commented on her Instagram post, writing “That’s hot.”

Double the Trouble

Celebrity couples, besties, and siblings didn’t pass up the chance to go for pair costumes.

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco dressed up as Alice and the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland. Other personalities like Ava Max, Alix Earle, and Kristin Konefal also had the same idea.

Riverdale stars Madelaine Petsch and Camila Mendes went to a Halloween party together as rivals Kim Possible and Shego from the Disney animated series Kim Possible.

Hailey and Justin Bieber also dressed up as Kim Possible and her sidekick Ron Stoppable, while their baby Jack went as Rufus, Ron’s pet naked mole rat.

Kendall and Kylie Jenner also brought the Disney nostalgia, dressing up as Hilary Duff’s characters Lizzie and Isabella from The Lizzie McGuire Movie.

Olympic gymnast Suni Lee and her sister Shyenne Lee attended Heidi Klum’s Halloween party as the Black and White Swan from Black Swan, starring Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis.

Best Group Costumes

Global girl group Katseye delighted fans when they dressed up as The Winx Club for Halloween. Leading up to the holiday, their fans were already making posts and artworks about the perfect combo.

The group also uploaded a Halloween special performance of them dancing to their hit single “Touch” in full costume.

Pure Fun

While elaborate celebrity costumes definitely stand out, we also appreciate it when they don’t take themselves too seriously.

This year, Anne Hathaway roamed the city as a ghostly Statue of Liberty, aptly named “Boo York City.”

Then for the 20th anniversary of her popular rom-com 13 Going on 30, Jennifer Garner recreated one of the scenes in the movie as her character Jenna Rink.

Ed Sheeran poked fun at himself by dressing up as a popular meme where he’s wearing a monkey costume. “Haters will say its AI #halloweenbruv #feltcutemightdeletelater,” he captioned his Instagram post.

Lastly, known for interviewing A-list celebrities and her web series Chicken Shop Date, Amelia Dimoldenberg went as Roz from Pixar’s Monsters Inc. who she called “the original office siren” in her post.
