The Unbeatable Filipino Energy
There is no doubt that Filipino concert audiences have a contagious energy about them, from serving as amazing supporting vocalists in Olivia Rodrigo’s recent show to jumping and singing in tandem with Dua Lipa’s popular hits.
“Manila that was WILD!!” the British popstar writes in the same Instagram post. “Thank you for your energy! I’ve missed youuuuu [ending it with an emoji of a Philippine flag and red heart].”
While the popstar performed songs from her new Radical Optimism album, she also revisited older crowd-pleasers and chart toppers, including the PNAU remix of “Cold Heart,” which she originally performed with the legendary Elton John (the song having come from his 2021 studio album The Lockdown Sessions). One cannot forget all the songs from her beloved and award-winning Future Nostalgia album, including “Don’t Start Now” and “Love Again,” which she sang to a thrilled, screaming audience.
Sightseeing And Sumptuous Cuisine
Beyond delivering spectacular performances, Dua Lipa also got to explore a bit of Manila, visiting the famous historical landmark of Intramuros alongside her boyfriend Callum Turner, reports Kristine Kang of GMA News.
The popstar also paid a visit to acclaimed Filipino fine dining restaurant Toyo Eatery (a longtime Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants entry), having clearly enjoyed the dishes as she posted some pictures of them alongside her Manila tour photos on Instagram. She also enjoyed a meal at beloved chef Margarita Forés’ farm-to-table concept, Grace Park, as seen in an Instagram post from the restaurant, which features Forés and a very happy Dua Lipa. “Loved it all so much,” wrote the popstar in a feedback card. “The uni pasta was to die for. Can’t wait to come back.”
This comes as no surprise given how the star is a proud foodie, as she reveals in a special video feature for Vogue France. “I’d like to think of myself as a foodie,” she expresses in the feature. “I think a lot of my day revolves around thinking about my next meal.”
So it’s safe to say the Radical Optimism concert in Manila was certainly a trip well spent for both the star and her hundreds of loyal Filipino fans.
