Fritz Hansen
Founded in Copenhagen 150 years ago, Fritz Hansen is an internationally renowned interior design brand. It’s known for crafting contemporary design, certified wood, and honest, durable materials with care.
In collaboration with visionary designers like Arne Jacobsen, Poul Kjærholm, and Hans J. Wegner, Fritz Hansen has shaped the Danish design tradition by creating iconic furniture that enhances spaces with its mere presence.
Poul Kjærholm & Fritz Hansen
Poul Kjærholm, a trained cabinetmaker and graduate of the Danish School of Arts and Crafts, had a keen interest in construction materials, especially steel, which he believed deserved the same artistic respect as wood.
In 1955, he began a collaboration with furniture manufacturer Ejvind Kold Christensen, a partnership that lasted for the rest of his life, with their families remaining close to this day.
Kjærholm saw himself as a furniture architect, reflecting his belief that furniture plays a critical role in spatial experience and design.
Two years after Kjærholm’s passing, the trustees entrusted Fritz Hansen with the production and sales of “The Kjærholm Collection,” which includes designs developed by Kjærholm from 1951 to 1980.
Fritz Hansen continues to produce and distribute Poul Kjærholm’s furniture to architects and private customers worldwide.
