Eddington, which Aster also wrote, is a contemporary Western film set in a small town in New Mexico. According to Variety, the main character is a sheriff with higher aspirations.
The movie will be co-produced and distributed by A24, which has released all three of Aster’s previous films.
Dream Cast
Stone is fresh from her Oscar win for Best Actress in Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things. This is her second Academy Award, after her 2016 Best Actress win for her role in La La Land. In 2017, Forbes reported that she was the world’s highest-paid actress.
Phoenix had just recently worked with Aster in Beau Is Afraid. The actor played the title character, a mild-mannered but paranoia-ridden man who embarks on a surreal journey. Phoenix has also won a Best Actor Oscar for Joker. Its sequel will be released later this year.
Pascal has been on everyone’s television screens, after acting in Game of Thrones, Narcos, The Mandalorian, and The Last of Us. His most recent project was Ethan Coen’s Drive-Away Dolls, released last month.
Butler began his career acting in teen sitcoms in dramas on Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, and The CW. He later gained wider recognition for his portrayal of Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s biopic. Since then, he has also starred in the miniseries Masters of the Air and the recently released Dune: Part Two.
