After selling Mint Mobile to T-Mobile for $1.35 billion, the actor made around $300 million from the deal. He owned roughly 25% of the company.
In 2020, Reynolds sold Aviation Gin to British spirits giant Diageo for $610 million. The actor also bought the football club Wrexham in the same year.
Along with Rob McElhenney, they acquired the team for a total of $2.5 million. The pair filmed a behind-the-scenes documentary about owning the club called Welcome To Wrexham.
Following these deals, he has now entered the payments industry by investing in Montreal-based fintech company Nuvei.
The actor revealed his new endeavor last Monday morning in an appearance at CNBC’s Squawk Box.
“I know nothing about fintech,” Reynolds admitted during the interview. “Thank God I’m not running the company.”
“My job is storytelling,” he continued. “I think at Maximum Effort our job would be more defined as not necessarily financial investment but emotional investment.”
Similarly to his other businesses, the actor has become the new face of the company. On the same day of his announcement, he starred in and posted a promotional video for the company on his Twitter.
