At this point, we’ve seen movies or television shows exploring different tropes of love, may it be comedic, a classic, or heartbreaking. Some situations are about long distance and most times it doesn’t work for the hero and his chosen heroine. Several Hollywood couples proved that distance is just a number, and survived the dreaded scenario in the real world.
Celebrities tend to have busy schedules and travel a lot for their many engagements globally. However, some managed to defy the odds and showed unwavering dedication to their partners, regardless of which timezone they are currently in.

Here are five Hollywood couples whose love stories proved the cliche “long distance doesn’t work” wrong.
Sarah Hyland And Wells Adams
Instagram is responsible for starting Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams’ relationship. People reported that the former sent her a private message on the platform after his The Bachelorette stint. They sent each other flirty messages which led to Adams asking Hyland out for tacos. He asked her to marry him in 2019 and tied the knot in 2022.
They had a long distance relationship for a few months. Adams lived in Nashville and had to fly to Los Angeles every weekend to see her. A report by US Weekly revealed the longest they went without seeing each other is two to three weeks. “Five days is already too much for us,” she commented. “We always try to make sure to see each other.” The long distance relationship agony ended in 2018 when they moved in together.
The actress remarked that long distance is not hard “if the love is there.”
Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn
The romance between Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn is living proof that there are perks in a low-key yet persistent romance. They met when they were kids in Sheffield, England, but they officially started dating in 2015. A report from Business Insider said Seaborn was based in the United States for quite some time while Sheeran toured the world.
She inspired his song “Photograph,” where he sings about love and how patience importantly contributes to a relationship. They got engaged in 2017. US Weekly reported with the song “First Times” (2021) further detailing how the singer popped the question. They have been married since 2018 and share two beautiful children together.
Emily Blunt And John Krasinski
Oppenheimer star Emily Blunt and The Office actor John Krasinski is one of the Hollywood couples out there who not only survived long distance, but has also been a fruit of persistence and dedication. The latter was a dedicated Emily fan for years.
Cosmopolitan mentioned Krasinski made Blunt laugh the first time they hung out together. They were unable to tell who actually asked whom first, but he gave in saying he asked her out for a while. They eventually got engaged in Los Angeles in 2009, where he described the proposal to be very casual, and she said yes. The couple got married a year later.
Their relationship hasn’t always been smooth sailing due to their very busy schedules. Hello Magazine reported they had to travel across the globe due to their different projects. But here they are, supporting each other and are still together after more than 15 years–a testament that love endures when there is faith and perseverance.
Nicole Kidman And Keith Urban
The Beguiled actress Nicole Kidman and Australian-American singer Keith Urban have been married since 2006. They met in 2005, and it wasn’t an easy road, like any other couple. They had challenges with Urban’s hesitations to pursue romantic connections and had trouble with addiction. However, their love withstood all odds.
US Weekly said Kidman and Urban showed their unwavering support towards each other’s personal and professional milestones. InStyle reported the couple endured some time away from each other due to Urban’s out of town engagements. He leaves her love letters “every single night” that he’s away.

Sarah Jessica Parker And Matthew Broderick
Sex and the City’s Sarah Jessica Parker and The Producers actor Matthew Broderick met in 1991 through the former’s brothers’ theater company in New York. They dated after Broderick asked Parker out on a date through voicemail. People reported the two worked on a Broadway production titled How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying in 1996. A year later, the two got married.
The couple are still going strong but not without difficulty. They are one of many Hollywood couples who went through and survived long distance. Parker spoke about their situation in 2018 through Sophia Amoruso’s Girlboss Radio podcast. She said his work life takes him in one direction and her in another, but in a way, it’s been beneficial. She added any time a relationship is hard, it comes to a point where people question whether or not it is still worth the investment.
“Relationships are hard,” she remarked. “I always felt that I wanted to invest more.”
