Erwan Heussaff receives the 2023 James Beard Media Awards for Social Media. With 4.4 million followers on his Instagram account @erwan and 3.2 million followers on his YouTube account @featrmedia from The Fat Kid Inside Studios, “the digital video channel is dedicated to food, travel, Filipino culture, and telling better stories over a hot meal.” In addition, the YouTube channel states: “From how-tos, recipes, cooking competitions, travel shows, features and documentaries, we strive to unite people through essential human needs: connection and food.”

The celebrity posted on his Instagram account: “I’m still shaking. We made it!” The post was accompanied with a photo of the celebrity wearing a huge smile and another picture with a close up of the award.
Well-wishes from family, friends, and supporters flooded Heussaff’s comments section:
Rajo Laurel, wrote, “BRAVO!!!” while sister Solenn posted, “Wooohooooo!!!” followed by five red heart emojis. Brother-in-law Nico Bolzico also wrote a comment, saying: “You won!?!?!?!?!!” Meanwhile, his wife Anne Curtis Smith offered a sweet message, “Dahlia and I are so proud of you mon amour.”

The awarding body, the James Beard Foundation (JBF) is a nonprofit organization with the mission to celebrate, support, and elevate the people behind America’s food culture and champion a standard of good food anchored in talent, equity, and sustainability. Beard was born to John and Elizabeth Beard in Portland, Oregon in May 5, 1903, Elizabeth was described as an independent English woman passionate about food who operated a boarding house while his father John worked at the customs house in Portland. The website states that the family had spent their summers fishing and gathering shellfish and wild berries, cooking meals with whatever was caught at the beach in Gearhart, Oregon. The foundation was established more than three decades ago in order to create a more equitable and sustainable future and through the JBF the mission comes to fruition through the annual Awards, together with industry and community-focused projects, advocacy, partnerships, and events.
