Christie’s has successfully auctioned off the most expensive bottle of whisky in the world—a 62-year-old Dalmore single malt named The Kildermorie, for £114,000 (approximately PHP 7.7 billion).
Created by Dalmore’s master blender Richard Paterson back in as early as 1868, The Kildermorie sold stands as 1 out of just 12 premium bottles released since then. 2 other bottles from the batch have already been sold as well: The 12 Pointer for £91,650, and another for £125,000.
Macallan, a contender in the luxury whisky market, has also recently garnered high numbers in auctions. A Macallan 37 Year Old Fine & Rare (1940) was sold for £19,200, while 2 bottles of a 1970 & 1972 Macallan 18 Year Old were also sold for £3,120–double its pre-sale high estimate.
Hats off to the lucky few who can now cap the night with a rich, dignified glass of the world’s best whiskies. Cheers!
