These famous personalities spared no expense for the intricately crafted gowns they wore to their weddings; one dress even cost $3.5 million.

Weddings are known for being pricey events. From hiring suppliers to purchasing a fitting bridal gown, the total cost of tying the knot is no small matter. In fact, a 2022 survey from The Knot found that the average wedding dress sells for $1,900 (roughly Php 106,000 today).

Now imagine purchasing a custom bridal gown from one of the world’s leading designers or luxury fashion houses. As expected, the cost of a single dress would only compound.

That said, many of the world’s famous personalities spared no expense to do just that. After all, a wedding is a very special occasion—so why not go big and make it extra memorable? Below are five of the most valuable celebrity bridal gowns to date:

Serena Williams ($3.5 million)

Williams didn’t just break records as a consecutive Grand Slam winner in the world of tennis; she also broke them with her lavish wedding gown, which cost a jaw-dropping $3.5 million. Yes, you read it right: the bridal dress is the most expensive one in the world thus far.

Designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, the regal gown featured a sweetheart neckline and sophisticated cape. Williams wore the piece when she married Reddit co-founder, Alexis Ohanian, back in 2017.

To make things even more extravagant, the valuable gown wasn’t Wiliams’ only piece. She also had two different outfit changes throughout the evening.

Priyanka Chopra ($2 million)

Much like Williams, actress and producer Priyanka Chopra also wore different gowns during her 2018 wedding with singer Nick Jonas. These included a traditional piece by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee for their Indian ceremony, and a Ralph Lauren gown for their Christian ceremony. The Ralph Lauren piece sported heaps of shining Swarovski crystals, which is probably why it cost an impressive $2 million.

Victoria Swarovski ($1 million)

Speaking of Swarovski, Victoria Swarovski—heiress to the multibillion-dollar jewelry brand—also donned an opulent gown during her own wedding in Italy. Created by Filipino fashion designer Michael Cinco, the custom-made piece had more than 500,000 crystals. It also featured paillete and laser-cut flowers, as well as a six-meter train.
