The power of the woman emanated from the grand ballroom of Raffles Hotel Makati where the Fashion Can Serve gala was celebrated earlier this month. As the crowning jewel in the philanthropic efforts of the I Can Serve Foundation, the fashion event celebrates women survivors of breast cancer. And what better way to honor the admirable stories of survival of these feisty and fabulous females than through a glamorous fundraiser that had them dressed up in the creations of the top design minds in the country today.
After a grand auction that had everyone—stars, survivors and supporters alike—vying for bids on luxury items, a grand fashion extravaganza was the next highlight. Randy Ortiz had movie stars Iza Calzado and Derek Ramsay walk the runway for him alongside cancer survivors. Dennis Lustico had male celebrity Matteo Guidicelli and mother-and-son tandem Bibeth Orteza and Rafa Siguion-Reyna modeling his creations.
Film director Olivia Lamasan walked for Patrice Diaz in a chic, hip ensemble. Rosanna Ocampo designed a gorgeous deep green gown for Margarita Fores. Mark Bumgarner had mother-and-daughter duo Chuchu Madrigal and Alex Eduque joining showbiz sweetheart Heart Evangelista on the catwalk in his beautiful creations. Patty Ang crafted sartorial wonders for Cebuana socialites Amanda Luym and Cacay Moras-Server, as well as media personality James Deakin and beauty queen Megan Young.
On our way out, we chanced upon Felix Ang who shared that he “was very proud of his daughter’s participation” in the noble fashion-for-a-cause soiree. How fitting that Patty had her models earlier on sashaying to the French rendition of ‘I Can Survive’ for her segment. Trés chic!
