Free-spirited Scent
Chanel’s latest fragrance Gabrielle L’Eau bears an intense floral scent composed of four flowers.
It carries notes of exotic and intense jasmine, radiant and fruity ylang-ylang, fresh and sparkling orange blossom, and lastly, a creamy, highly feminine Grasse tuberose.
The scent also encapsulates Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s free-spirited and passionate personality. “Gabrielle Chanel L’Eau is a floral composition that is illuminated by sparkling notes, which give the scent a burst of freshness,” says perfumer Olivier Polge.
City Collection
Le Labo’s latest collection of fragrances is inspired by cities all over the world. The new exclusive scent Coriandre 39 is basically Mexico City in a bottle.
Making use of possibly one of the most controversial herbs of all time, the scent of cilantro leaves (coriandre in French) mixes with the zest of spicy lime. Later, notes of fresh, green florals peek through.
“It’s a sensory experience that teeters between tranquil and vibrant. Think forest bathing in El Bosque de Chapultepec or sipping mezcal in the shade at a humming café in La Condesa,” the label states.
Salt Air Season
Diptyque’s Corail Oscuro is part of the Les Essences de Diptyque collection, inspired by five treasures of nature.
This fragrance in particular is a tribute to coral, consisting of rose bourbon absolute and notes of mandarin, then elevated by a salty mineral accord.
“I wanted to explore a sense of saltiness, and the fiery reds of a coral garden. A shimmering stony, mineral flower clasped between the light of the sky and the darkness of the sea,” says perfumer Alexandra Carlin.
Augmented Fragrances
Prada’s Paradoxe Virtual Flower Eau de Parfum was crafted with the help of Artificial Intelligence, which augmented the unique, fresh, and floral signature scent. The fragrance notes consist of jasmine, neroli, vert de bergamot, musk, and ambrette.
Emma Watson, who starred in and directed the campaign video, says, “Prada Paradoxe gives women a little more space to celebrate themselves, to know that it’s ok to be complex and to explore the different facets of themselves that make them the fullest expression of who they are.”
The actress and activist also promotes the brand’s refillable bottle. Purchasing the refill with the original bottle helps avoid the use of approximately 38% less materials in total.
Sun-kissed Warmth
Lastly, YSL’s Libre Flowers & Flames is a sun-kissed interpretation of its Libre line. The scent blends a creamy coco-palm tree flower with a spicy and solar lily flower.
Other notes also include orange blossom and lavender heart. Beneath all these florals, the fragrance then has a base of rich vanilla for warmth and long-lastingness.
The ad campaign, featuring pop star Dua Lipa, introduces the perfume’s new note as the Lily of the Desert, a flower born from the flames.
