Gavel & Block: Salcedo Auctions’ Innovative New Platform

Salcedo Auctions continues to thrive in bringing the auction platform to a contemporary audience with their new subsidiary brand Gavel & Block. The new themed auction concept aims to bring art to younger enthusiasts in innovative ways. For their first sale entitled “Editions”, Salcedo Auctions’ Richie and Karen Lerma has teamed with leading premium food market The Gourmand Market and event space Green Sun.

The auction will sell original fine prints, ceramics and sculptures by various art masters. Highlights include BenCab’s EDSA Event, a poster print of Pablo Picasso’s Un poème dans chaque livre de Paul Eluard from 1956, a untitled Vincente Manansala work from 1962, an untitled piece by Roberto Chabet, Victor Vasarely’s Dom (Bleu-Rouge) screen print, Ang Kiukok’s Veronica, French artist Henri Toulouse-Lautrec’s The Circus series which includes a box of 25 prints, Salvador Dali’s whimsical ode to meat Les Entre-Plats Sodomisés, and Fernando Zobel’s 1971 piece Jucar XII.

To continue their tradition of discovering new food concepts and local flavors, the Gourmand Market will be serving a well-curated spread of culinary delights during the auction. The Gourmand Market partners Trish Panililio, Dara David-Roa and Dong Ronquillo says that the market thrives on its creed, ‘“Eat Well, Live Well,’ and is therefore, more than discovering purveyors and delectable dishes. It is also a platform where people of various interest can come together and celebrate their passions.”

Green Sun, located at Pasong Tamo Extension, has come on board as the official venue partner believing that Gavel & Block fits the company’s vision for the space. “(Green Sun) was built to be the launch pad for creativity – and it is our mission to promote the arts and enrich culture,” shares Green Sun’s Kevin Lim Tan.

A weeklong preview of ‘Editions’ will also be held at the Salcedo Auctions main sale room at Three Salcedo Place, 121 Tordesillas St., Salcedo Village, Makati City, from Thursday, 20 July to Wednesday, 26 July.
