Paris-based fashion designer Giambattista Valli is known for his dramatic and feminine creations. From extravagant gowns to exquisite evening dresses, his designs demand hours of embellishment. But Giambattista did not settle at creating fantasy haute couture and ready-to-wear. He fulfilled his vision of reaching a wider audience. He collaborated for the first time with major apparel brand H&M. The latest limited pre-collection will be available in selected H&M stores on May 25, 2019.
Expanding his vision
Giambattista’s latest collaboration is his first time to design for menswear. He primarily designs fashion pieces for women. Yet Giambattista shared his vision goes beyond that. He said, “The goal is to share my love for beauty and to be able to be a part of everyone’s ‘happy moments’, to help create love stories all around the world.”
The Italian designer adds that the latest collaboration is his way of tapping into a broader audience. “Go big or go home,” he told in an interview early this year. It is the affluent fashion crowd who enjoys his luxurious creations. Yet a look at Giambattista’s Autumn/Winter 2019-2020 collection can give a peek on how he can turn couture dream into high street fashion.
Muses of the project
First revealed during the amfAR gala in Cannes, the news of the collaboration thrilled personalities and fashion-enthusiasts. Kendall Jenner, Chiara Ferragni, H.E.R. (Gabriela Wilson), Chris Lee (Li Yuchun), and Bianca Brandolini are the collaboration’s five beautiful muses, along with singer/actor Ross Lynch. Fashion icon Chiara cheerfully shared her thoughts on the collaboration. “Having the honor of debuting one of the exquisite dresses from the collection is every Valli Girl’s dream come true.”
The Giambattista Valli x H&M limited pre-collection will be available on 12 H&M stores across the globe. In the Philippines, you can check it out on hm.com on May 25, 2019. The main collection launches worldwide on November 7, 2019.
