Red Carpet Fashion
From dazzling dresses to stylish suits, these were some of the most show-stopping looks at this year’s Golden Globes.
Never a stranger to red carpet best-dressed lists, Zendaya turned heads once again, this time in a burnt orange Louis Vuitton gown. According to her stylist Law Roach, the look was a tribute to stars such as Diahann Carroll, Eartha Kitt, Dorothy Dandridge, and Joyce Bryant.
Zendaya completed her look with diamond jewelry from Bulgari. But what caught everyone’s attention was the shiny new piece on her left ring finger. While nothing has been confirmed, it sure had fans excited for her and her current partner, Tom Holland.
Ayo Edebiri, on the other hand, chose to forgo the usual gown and went with an oversized gray suit from Loewe. The look, featuring a 14-karat gold-dipped feather tie, had many wondering if it was an homage to Julia Roberts’ iconic 1990 Golden Globes moment.
The Substance star Demi Moore wore a custom Giorgio Armani strapless champagne silk gown. The dress was accented with a curved geometric detail and embellished with Swarovski crystals.
Saint Laurent dressed both Zoe Saldaña and Zoë Kravitz in stunning black gowns. Saldaña’s sequin dress had a deep-cut sweetheart neckline and the actress accessorized with Cartier jewelry. Meanwhile, Kravitz’s velvet column gown featured a white bow that continued into a long train.
Emilia Pérez Wins Big
Already one of the most anticipated films of the night, Emilia Pérez took home four awards out of the 10 it was nominated for.
It won Best Film in the Musical or Comedy and Non-English Language categories as well as Best Original Song. One of the film’s stars, Saldaña, also received the award for Best Supporting Actress.
This was a big moment for Saldaña, as this was her first Golden Globes win. The actress was tearful as she accepted the award, saying, “I’m filled with adrenaline, but my heart is full of gratitude.”
She thanked her family, co-stars, the director and crew of Emilia Pérez, and her fellow nominees, adding, “You’re magic, you’re all magic.”
Shōgun Tops Television
While The Bear was leading with five nominations, Shōgun took home all four of the awards it was nominated for, making it the most awarded series that night.
The awards include Best Television Series – Drama, Best Actress for Anna Sawai, Best Actor for Hiroyuki Sanada, and Best Supporting Actor for Tadanobu Asano.
In her speech, Sawai thanked the Golden Globes voters and writers of Shōgun in particular during her limited time.
Meanwhile, Sanada thanked everyone who has been in his life. “All of you have brought me here,” he said. “And I’d like to say, for the young actors and creators in the world, please be yourself, believe yourself, and never give up. Good luck.”
Demi Moore’s Emotional Speech
For Demi Moore, who has been working in the industry for over 45 years, this was her first major award. Moore finally won Best Actress for her role in the body horror film The Substance.
“Thirty years ago I had a producer tell me that I was a popcorn actress, and at that time I made that mean that this is not something I was allowed to have,” she said in her speech.
“That I could do movies that were successful and made a lot of money, but that I couldn’t be acknowledged. And I bought in and I believed that. That corroded me over time, to a point where I thought a few years ago that maybe this was it. Maybe I’ve done what I was supposed to do.”
It was at this low point, Moore shared, that the “magical, bold, courageous, out-of-the-box, and absolutely bonkers” script for The Substance landed on her lap. “The universe told me that ‘You’re not done.’”
“I’ll just leave you with one thing that I think this movie is imparting. In those moments when we don’t think we’re smart enough or pretty enough or skinny enough or successful enough or basically just not enough, I had a woman say to me, ‘Just know, you will never be enough, but you can know the value of your worth if you just put down the measuring stick.’”
“Today, I celebrate this as a marker of my wholeness, of the love that is driving me, for the gift of doing something I love, and being reminded that I do belong.”
