The Red Charity Gala makes a triumphant return, showcasing the best of Filipino culture for a cause.
The Red Charity Gala 2024, held at Shangri-La The Fort, showcased renowned Filipino designer Lulu Tan-Gan’s “Farm-to-Fashion” philosophy.
“Red Charity Gala prides itself in promoting the very best in Filipino fashion and certainly Lulu Tan-Gan is one of the finest designers in the country,” event co-founder Kaye Tinga told Lifestyle Asia.
“She has been one of the original advocates of Philippine fabric and sustainability, and the Red Charity Gala is a new venue for Lulu to show her creativity and talent. She is our very first female designer as well.”

When asked what set this year’s event apart from previous editions, Tinga praised scenographer Gino Gonzales’ work. “It’s the first time that he joined the team and the results were nothing less than astounding,” she shared.
“Coupled with the lighting design of Monino Duque, this has to be the most visually stunning production we’ve mounted.”
Coming Together for Change
The Red Charity Gala invited personalities and philanthropists across the Philippines to partake in the festivities.
Among them, of course, were the event’s founders and Lifestyle Asia cover girls Tessa Prieto and Kaye Tinga. Tim Yap also returned to host the event for the 13th year in a row.
The gala’s partners from the Hope for Lupus Foundation Em Aglipay-Villar and Melanie Cuevas were also in attendance. Aglipay-Villar went with her husband, Senator Mark Villar.
More members of the government such as Senator Sherwin Gatchalian and Senator Migs Zubiri attended the gala and joined in contributing to its fundraisers.
Other guests include SM Supermalls president Steven Tan and City of Dreams Manila’s Vice President of Public Relations Charisse Chuidian.
Another Lifestyle Asia cover star, Odette Pumaren, and renowned jeweler Suzette Ayson joined in the festivities. Meanwhile, Patti Herrera, Julia Baretto, Ria Prieto, and Wendy Puyat were also seen enjoying the gala together.
The Aivee Group founders Aivee and Z Teo were present at the gala, along with Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo and fashion icon Kylie Verzosa at their table.
Fashion designer Ivarluski Aseron, whose work was showcased at last year’s Red Charity Gala, returned to support the fundraiser again this year.
Art for a Cause
Ahead of the fashion show, an art auction took place to raise funds for various charities. The gala managed to raise a total of ₱5.25 million for its beneficiaries, thanks to the guests’ collective effort.
Proceeds from the auction will go to the Hope for Lupus Foundation, Philippine Red Cross, and Assumption High School Batch 1981 Foundation.
The successful auction featured art pieces from Ryan Villamael, Kim Oliveros, Catalina Africa, Carlo Tanseco, Bernardo Pacquing, and Angelito Antonio.
There were also a selection of luxurious vacation stays and trips available, from Hong Kong and Singapore to Istanbul and Cape Town. Philippine Airlines and Emirates offered business class trips to Hong Kong and any European destination respectively.
Meanwhile, there were intricate jewelry pieces up for auction, including Diagold’s Philomene 8.43 carat pair of earrings and Jewelmer’s 10-13mm South Sea pearl necklace.
