The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce administers the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles and hosted star ceremonies for decades.
The star-governing body honored Culkin with the 2,765th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Hollywood Walk of Fame Producer Ana Martinez said Culkin was a staple in pop culture for decades and has an intensive trajectory of work. Martinez mentioned that one of his movies, Home Alone, became one of the most beloved holiday movies the world has seen.
“How fitting that Catherine O’Hara who played Macaulay’s mother in the film is reuniting with her movie son and will be speaking at the ceremony!” added Martinez.
Culkin started acting at the age of four as per the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s website.
A Home Alone reunion
O’Hara played as Kate McCallister, mom to Culkin’s character, Kevin McCalister, in the first two Home Alone movies. She graced the ceremony with a heartfelt speech rounding up how the actor grew up to be a worldwide star.
The actress honored their Home Alone movies in her speech. She said it was, is, and always will be a beloved global sensation due to Culkin’s “perfect performance.”
O’Hara addressed Culkin saying she knows his hard work and he made acting look like the most natural thing in the world. “From what I see, you have brought that sense of sweet yet twisted, yet totally relatable, sense of humor to everything you have chosen to do since Home Alone,” she continued.
The actor hugged her as she thanked him for including his “fake mom that left you home alone not once, but twice” at the ceremony.
Lyonne said a few words to Culkin as well, having worked with him in 2003’s Party Monster. The actress expressed that she was so proud of Culkin and remembered their first meeting at a bar on the Lower East Side.
“I remember thinking: ‘That’s my friend.’ And we were,” Lyonne added.
“You’ve given me family”
Culkin praised his partner and fiancée, Song, when he spoke during the ceremony. He gave a heartfelt speech saying the actress is “absolutely everything” and is his champion.
“You’re the only person happier for me today than I am,” he continued. “You’re not only the best woman I’ve ever known, you’re the best person I’ve ever known. You’ve given me just all my purpose. You’ve given me family.”
The actor concluded his speech with an iconic Home Alone quote. “In the spirit of the holiday season, I just want to say, Merry Christmas, ‘ya filthy animals,” he said, and the audience cheered and applauded.
Culkin’s siblings Rory and Quinn, Party Monster co-star Seth Green and his goddaughter Paris Jackson attended the ceremony as well.
