The most revered chefs of the world share simple lockdown recipes for a common cause.
Out of the many industries affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, none has taken a unique hit quite like the restaurant and hospitality industry. Restaurants and bars all across the world have been tested in finding new ways to stay afloat and maintain operations as countries entered quarantine. It becomes some form of noble action to continue serving their dishes, mostly over delivery, over a global crisis—unrelentingly providing comfort in the form of food in dark times.

To aid the industry through this trialing period, the people behind the World’s 50 Best Restaurants have called for the finest chefs of the world to come together for a common cause. 50 Best for Recovery is a fund-raising initiative that cascades donations to restaurants and bars in need of support as they try to re-emerge from the pandemic through partner organizations in multiple countries. One way you can donate to the cause is to purchase they e-cookbook, Home Comforts: simple lockdown recipes from the world’s best chefs and bartenders.
Iconic Recipes And Cocktail Pairings
Home Comforts showcases 50 unique recipes from 50 esteemed chefs (a balance of male and female chefs) that have been previously recognized in 50 Best’s annual list in previous years. Some of the recipes featured include Alain Passard’s inspired veg-led cookery, Daniela Soto-Innes’ versatile mole, Manu Buffara’s Sunday family favorite and Vicky Lau’s brilliant bao. Along with these dishes are 25 cocktail pairings from bartenders that were also recognized in the organization’s 50 Best Bars list. All together, the e-cookbook provides comfort recipes with easing cocktails that you can purchase for a minimum donation of $10 USD to the 50 Best for Recovery initiative.

Highlighting the movement’s significance, William Drew, Director of Content for The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, shares, “We are thrilled to have some of the world’s leading chefs and bartenders come together and offer their favorite recipes for our first ever e-cookbook. Chefs who have featured on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants lists are opening their kitchens and encouraging food lovers to recreate their best-loved dishes in the comfort of their own homes. We urge people to support us in raising as much money as possible for the global hospitality industry—and help give back to the restaurants and bars struggling around the world—with a minimum $10 or £8 donation.”
Among the organizations that will benefit from the donations include Lee Initiative’s Restaurant Reboot Relief Program and Black Urban Growers (US), Nosso Prato (Brazil), the Eat Out Restaurant Relief Fund (South Africa), Feed the Needy (India), Horeca Next (Belgium), Ambasciatori del Gusto (Italy), Chefs for Spain, Singapore Cocktail Bar Association, the worldwide Social Gastronomy Movement, as well as other independent dining establishments in need across the continents.
