Cherry Veric’s Creative World

When asked about his sources of inspiration, Cherry revealed, “I am actually a very conceptual designer. Ideas come to me when I’m driving or even when I’m relaxing at the beach.”

Bugs, dragons, and spiders—these are the creatures that Cherry showcased to Lifestyle Asia. While these might evoke fear in most, Cherry explained, “I grew up in a coastal town, so I was exposed early on to the natural world. I was a very curious child, and my curiosity often led me to rice fields, rivers, and even foothills where bugs were found. We played with spiders and such. So, the design is a tribute to my joyful childhood, immersed in the wonders of the natural world.”

His designs pay homage to his own childhood experiences. But beyond fauna, Cherry also adores using sequins.

He described his fascination, stating, “As an artist, I love spectacles. But the kind I prefer are slow-burning—not something that explodes in your face, but a vision that grows over time in intensity and effect. I use sequins to play with light, but a light that burns in the dark and then spreads like bushfires. So, even though my designs are as bright as sequins tend to be, they invite a second look, allowing the viewer to admire the sight repeatedly.”
