The luxury fashion house plans to stage a fashion show in Milan in September, commemorating the brand’s 40th anniversary.
The company has stated that the event during Milan Fashion Week aims to pay tribute to the “remarkable achievements” of founder Franco Moschino and his enduring legacy.
Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, Katie Grand, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, and Lucia Liu will spearhead this season’s collection for Moschino.
Each stylist will create 10 contemporary looks inspired by the works of the late designer.
Moschino has yet to announce a successor to former creative director Jeremy Scott, who left the brand in March after a decade.
Sources indicate that Massimo Ferretti, executive chairman of Moschino’s parent company Aeffe, is currently conducting interviews to find a suitable candidate.
Moschino, the brand’s founder, began his career designing for Gianni Versace before launching his own company, Moonshadow, in 1983.
Known for his quirky and humorous approach to fashion, Moschino’s innovative designs revolutionized the industry.
He revamped the classic suit with unique touches like bottle caps and embroidered price tags on black dresses. One of his famous quotes was, “There is no creativity without chaos.”
In 2022, Aeffe reported revenues of 352 million euros, an 8.4 percent increase from the previous year. Although specific sales figures for Moschino are not disclosed, it is estimated that the brand accounts for 70 percent of Aeffe’s total sales.
Following Moschino’s passing, Aeffe acquired a 70 percent stake in the company and has since expanded the brand’s global presence.
In 2021, Aeffe obtained full control of Moschino by purchasing the remaining 30 percent stake for 66.6 million euros.
Additionally, they secured the license to produce and distribute Love Moschino collections of women’s apparel in-house for 3.6 million euros.
As Moschino prepares to celebrate its 40th anniversary with a fashion show during Milan Fashion Week, it aims to honor Franco Moschino’s remarkable achievements and enduring legacy.
While the search for a new creative director continues, the brand remains a prominent force in the fashion industry.
