Jewelmer Designs The First Filipino Crown For Miss Universe

The international luxury brand, Jewelmer, is known for showcasing the Philippines’ South Sea pearls.

“From Palawan to the Universe!” Jewelmer’s Jacques Branellec wrote on Instagram. The luxury brand is making history as the designers of the first Philippine-made Miss Universe crown.

As the official Crown Sponsor for Miss Universe 2024, Jewelmer featured its usual centerpiece, the South Sea pearl, the National Gem of the Philippines. The crown was unveiled in Mexico City on November 13, where this year’s pageant will take place.

Filipino Craftsmanship

Titled “The Lumière de l’Infini Crown,” the creation of this year’s Miss Universe crown started with sourcing the South Sea pearls in the pristine waters of Palawan. The precious pieces are then passed on from pearl farmers to dedicated artisans.

Committed to shining the light on the Philippines’ beauty and artistry to international audiences, the label’s crown was handcrafted by Filipino master craftsmen.

These skilled artisans trained in the traditional techniques practiced in Place Vendôme, a renowned center of luxury and elegance in France.

Light and fire emanate from the crown’s sun figure, its rays adorned with diamonds and the warmth of precious yellow gold. Surrounding the centerpiece, more diamonds and gold are shaped into waves, depicting seafoam meeting the shores.

The golden South Sea pearls also evoke the sphere of the Earth, coming from the beauty of the ocean to the infinite beyond of the universe.

Enduring Elegance

Established in 1979, Jewelmer was born out of a commitment to the world’s most lustrous South Sea pearls and exquisite fine jewelry.

Known for producing pearls with a rich, natural golden color, the brand guarantees that each piece comes from their own farms, handled with quality and sustainability in mind at every step of the process.

In 2006, the brand founded the Save Palawan Seas Foundation (SPSF), a non-profit organization that aims to preserve marine resources while creating workable and sustainable livelihood alternatives for communities in Palawan.

Back in 2017, Jewelmer already shone on the Miss Universe stage when Maxine Medina donned a headpiece created by the Filipino brand as part of her national costume. The headpiece was, of course, adorned with golden South Sea pearls.

Now coinciding with the brand’s 45th anniversary, the crown will be featured during the Miss Universe 2024 pageant in Mexico City on November 16, 2024 (November 17 in the Philippines).
