MGLI chairman and CEO Archie believes that the company is on the way to becoming a media empire, housing the biggest and boldest global media brands. He thinks that Campos-Aldanese’s 20 years of experience working with international brands will help realize that vision.
“I have no doubt she is the right chief that will expand MGLI’s business portfolio to reignite the Philippine media,” Carrasco says.
Industry player
Campos-Aldanese is defined by her two-decade career in the luxury industry and is known for leading the growth, expansion, and elevation of some of the biggest brands in the market. Her extensive retail experience illustrates her undeniable skill as a dominant player in the industry.
She began her journey managing menswear brands and developing private fashion and activewear labels for teens. Later, she moved to beauty, jewelry, and fashion brands.
Not long after, she reached the pinnacle of business by working with endless powerhouse brands around the world: Chanel, Dior, Clarins, Estée Lauder, La Prairie, Lancôme, Montblanc, Piaget, Vacheron Constantin, Lanvin, and Christian Louboutin, to name a few.
Campos-Aldanese is constantly watching out for the next big thing. And this drive is coupled with the ability to spot and build brands with a compelling backstory.
One of her missions is to uplift Filipino talent, craftsmanship, and industry, and create avenues for them to be seen by the rest of the world.
She is also the co-founder of a cosmetics company that is known for their ads that communicate diversity. Three years ago, she co-founded an e-commerce platform for beauty and wellness products sourced from local materials in an effort to support local agriculture.
The next level
As the new COO of MGLI, Campos-Aldanese will oversee a careful assessment of international media titles. Each title under MGLI aims to have a transformative impact on its readers and partners by elevating the industry and highlighting important issues.
She says that there is a need for a radical approach. Excellence in editorial content, for her, means being in tuned to the needs and sensibilities of their core audience.
Campos-Aldanese also believes that circulation is key in order to make an impact on the advertising community where your pages are the most valuable and desirable marketing tool.
“Each publication should set a tone of professionalism throughout its pages,” she says. Under the Campos-Aldanese leadership, the company is looking at long term circulation-driven strategies to ensure a steadily growing readership base.
Vogue has differentiated itself far ahead from other publications with its editorial quality and industry distinction. With the licensing of the global fashion authority’s local edition, MGLI wants the magazine to work in unison with the industry.
She also wants to champion the right values, a kinder attitude, and a more positive outlook. While wealth, fame, and power used to define the industry, Campos-Aldanese says that “the currency now includes love, compassion, and helping the less fortunate.”
Next generation
In sustaining MGLI’s mission of providing strong international platforms, Campos-Aldanese says that it is important to get connected and empower the next generation. The world of the youth is echoed by emerging trends on alternative fashion, entertainment, music, and pop culture.
Campos-Aldanese wants the youth to take on leadership roles, and be anchored by passion and purpose. Having both, she says, will help them stay committed, and give them the strength and stamina to realize their dreams.
We can all harness the strength and resilience within us to overcome any challenge we may encounter. In doing so, “we will develop the necessary skills that will help us carry out our unique purpose,” the COO says.
