Inspired by the ambiance of Philippine nature, the ballroom of Manila House was decked in anahaw leaves to celebrate 40 years of Josie Natori’s eponymous brand. Treasured friends and guests greeted the luxury loungewear designer, whose offerings are sold in department stores all over the world. A display rack of lingerie, bathrobes and homewear in Natori’s signature colorful prints filled the space. Recalling her early years in the industry, Natori said, “At the time, lingerie was either lewd or frumpy.” Her brand calls to mind a combination of the visual appeals between both the East and West, and continues to fill a niche in the lifesyle department.
