While all of these five distinct modes of perceiving the world seem to operate independently, Lena Groeger, a graduate student in New York University’s Science Health and Environmental Reporting Program, shared how these senses closely collaborate in reality so we can better grasp our environment.

Despite this knowledge, there are times when we allow these vital sensations of life to slip away unnoticed.

In the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources’ newsletter, they noted that the outside world shapes their development through life experiences, where an array of possibilities await them for their future. White, Ph.D., Professor and Chair in the Department of Psychology at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York. Further supporting this statement is Harvard’s Venkatesh Murthy, Director of the Center for Brain Science, clarifying that smell and memory seem to be so closely linked because of the brain’s anatomy.

With an aroma from the past, kids remember the best of their childhood

Because of this, children may remember playing house at an afternoon tea garden party, where the flowers smelled sweet and fruity. Maybe even that one birthday breakfast when home smelled like pancakes and hot chocolate. With memories and life lessons to keep in mind, the future looks bright for them.
