So, is it J.Af now?
A real-life fairy tale had its happy ending in Las Vegas on Sunday. In an intimate ceremony, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, who first dated in the early 2000s, tied the knot in a drive-through chapel at midnight.
Lopez confirmed the news to her fans through her newsletter On the J Lo. “Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient,” wrote Lopez in a message signed “Jennifer Lynn Affleck.”
The couple, who met in 2001 on the set of their movie Gigli, got engaged a year later. However, they called it off by 2003. “When we found ourselves seriously contemplating hiring three separate ‘decoy brides’ at three different locations, we realized that something was awry,” they said in a joint statement, adding that the media frenzy caused the postponement, which led to an official separation.
Whirlwind love lives
Affleck married actress Jennifer Garner in 2005, with whom he has three children Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel. Meanwhile, Lopez was briefly married to actor and producer Ojani Noa before meeting Affleck. Then, in 2001, she married her backup dancer Cris Judd for three years.
By 2004, she wed singer Marc Anthony, whom she married for a decade. Together, they have 14-year-old twins Emme Maribel and Maximilian David.
Lopez and Affleck, or “Bennifer,” reunited in September 2021 after the former ended an engagement with baseball star Alex Rodriguez.
“Stick around long enough, and maybe you’ll find the best moment of your life in a drive-through in Las Vegas at 12:30 in the morning in the tunnel of love drive-through with your kids and the one you’ll spend forever with,” said Lopez in her newsletter.
