Making History: K-Pop Group Seventeen’s Epic Performance At The Philippine Arena

Seventeen left their mark on the Philippines by being the first K-Pop group to hold a solo concert at the world’s largest indoor stadium.

After performing at two sold-out shows just a couple of months ago, the 13-member boy group made their way back to the Philippines for an even bigger and better stage.

This additional date for Seventeen’s “Be The Sun” world tour was still highly anticipated by fans, especially those who weren’t able to attend the previous concerts.

Despite the heavy rain and traffic on December 17, Carats (the group’s fans) braved the journey to the Philippine Arena in Bulacan just to see their favorite artists.

The group performed 22 songs, including recent hits like “HOT” and “_WORLD” as well as old classics such as their 2015 single, “Mansae.”

Each sub-unit (Performance, Vocal, and Hip-hop teams) also had their own sets that showcased their specialties.

The Performance team led with a smooth and sensual rendition of “Moonwalker” and “Wave” along with additional dancers.

Afterward, the Vocal team took over the stage and stole the crowd’s breath away with their powerful voices in “Come to Me” and “Imperfect Love.”

The Hip-hop team closed the unit sets with high energy performances of “GAM3 BO1” and “Back It Up” that had the whole arena shaking. Finally, the unit leaders came together for “CHEERS,” which wasn’t in the setlist for their previous Manila shows.

The group returned for their encore with “Darl+ing,” their first ever English single, while Carats expressed their gratitude by serenading the boys with their song, “Campfire.”

The members watched the massive crowd, some with teary eyes, and thanked everyone for their energy and continuing support of the group.

As the show was coming to an end, leader S.Coups said that “It would be even better if we meet up again at a bigger venue. And we will come back with a better show.” A promise to Filipino fans that they’ll be visiting us again soon.

In line with their tradition, the members wrapped up the show with a seemingly endless performance of “Very Nice” that had the entire crowd on their feet, from the VIP sections all the way to Upper Box.

Seventeen was the first group to hold a concert at the Philippine Arena since the COVID-19 pandemic began, hopefully ushering in a new era for live music in the country.
