The artist might just make history with her biggest tour yet.
Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has the potential to gross over $1 billion in revenue which would break the record currently held by Elton John.
Swift’s epic tour began in March with 52 show dates in the United States. Since then, the artist has announced international tour dates bringing her total up to over 100 worldwide shows. When tickets for the US leg went on sale, the tour broke Ticketmaster records with over two million tickets sold.

“What we’re seeing on this particular Taylor tour is almost like a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon,” said Jarred Arfa, the chief operating officer of Artist Group International. “It’s pretty astonishing.”
Arfa told the Wall Street Journal that he expects Swift’s tour to exceed $1 billion. Meanwhile, other music experts predict grosses of $700 million to $900 million. The artist and her team haven’t disclosed her concert’s nightly grosses to Billboard Boxscore for now, as they plan to report it later on.
Though the cost of tickets for arena and stadium concerts are rising, the current problem people are having isn’t even the price. It’s getting tickets in the first place. Fans aren’t just competing against each other for seats, but scalpers as well. They’ll likely resell those tickets for astronomical prices for their own profit.
Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, which has been running since 2018 and is set to end in July 2023, has earned over $817.9 million so far. The record was previously held by Ed Sheeran, whose 2017 to 2019 Divide Tour brought in $776 million.
The Eras Tour will likely already eclipse Swift’s previous Reputation Stadium Tour with her US dates alone. Held in 2018, the Reputation tour grossed about $345 million across 53 shows.
