What Makes Women Beautiful? We Ask Some Men to Answer the Question

Lifestyle Asia asks men what makes women beautiful? They responded to the question and described beauty beheld—a sense of humor, intelligent, an expressive face, fashionable, a comforting presence, someone with courage, passion and compassion, spiritually grounded, deeply caring, kind and generous.

Christian Gonzalez

CHRISTIAN GONZALEZ on wife Steph

I am so fortunate to have been surrounded by so many amazing women. My family has been tremendous in every sense of the word and my mom, in particular, was a truly special person that we all miss her very much.

Charmed life aside, not many people get the chance (ever!) to meet someone that somehow exemplifies and combines everything they’ve loved in all the great people that they have known, past or present. As the song goes though, some guys have all the luck.

I wake up every morning next to someone who is kind, generous, beautiful, and enthralling. It just gets better and better and I never ever want to miss a second.

 Gabriele Boschi

GABRIELE BOSCHI on wife Julie

At the risk of sounding too cliché, the only possible answer to the question is my wife, Julie. Aside from the obvious that she is very attractive and truly a beautiful woman, there are other reasons to make her my top choice.

I always admired intelligence in a woman. As that, she definitely keeps me on my toes. I always have to make sure I mean what I say. If not, it will start a long argument.

She cannot accept any less than my full attention, nor from anyone else. She was very instrumental in my success as a businessman. After meeting her, I became very focused and effective.

That is the other side of her beauty—not just her looks or her bright mind, but also the way she changes her environment and makes it as beautiful as her. This becomes obvious when you get to know her, from the little things to the big things. She always makes sure our house is perfect with flowers, the table is beautifully set up, or our four daughters are well-dress. It’s as if beauty irradiates from within her and sticks all around.

In this modern age of plastic surgery, beauty may not be cheap, but it’s definitely available. However, beauty from within is very rare. An even bigger part of Julie’s beauty is her heart. She is always available for her family and friends, and does her best for the less fortunate when no one is looking. I’ve seen her volunteer to help victims of calamity, but never mentions it to anyone. I call that silent beauty, wherein it’s not in your face.

Donnie Tantoco

DONNIE TANTOCO on wife Crickette

Crickette is even more beautiful to me today than when I married her 28 years ago. She was already so attractive then that I decided, at an early age, to bind and devote myself to her. Her beauty evolved, and for me, it grew not only physically, but also mentally and spiritually. I think at the end of the day, she has always been true to herself. Hence, her beauty is complete, real, and authentic.

She is still blooming physically. I love her shape and her silhouette from any angle whether she is sitting, walking, standing or lying down. Her face beautifully expresses her many moods and her different passions. Like all long-time partners, I know the meaning of her small gestures. I understand and appreciate the message of her eyes. Her face sometimes speaks more clearly and beautifully than her words.

Mentally, she is one of the wisest and most intelligent persons I know. She is a fascinating person to converse with. She has an amazing memory, which is both a good and bad thing for me. I trust and believe in her.

She has a fierce, feisty, courageous and passionate spirit. What is most beautiful about Crickette is her chutzpah; how she expresses her passion, her artistry, and her love for others. She also is deeply devoted to God. One of the things I try to do as her husband is to be a protector, and as much as I can, be a feeder of her beautiful and powerful spirit. I believe that for as long as her spirit is strong and fully expressed, all of our lives will be happier and better.

Armand Del Rosario

ARMAND DEL ROSARIO on wife Georgia

We’ve all heard the saying that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This is very true, but beauty, I believe, in its simplicity, comes down to inner beauty and outer beauty.

For me, when we talk about beauty, the first thing I see is a woman’s looks. After all, a big part of love is attraction. You first get drawn to a woman’s looks. Then, if you’re lucky to go out on a date with this beautiful woman, you get to learn more about her inner beauty.

I’ve been on my fair share of dates with pretty women, but not all of them have the inner beauty I look for. Inner beauty is relative to each person. I believe it’s dependent on individual’s values. I value family, honesty, loyalty, and just as important—a big compassionate heart!

I also feel beauty is not in perfection, but in the imperfection of a person. When I see the vulnerability of a woman, that’s when I fall deeper in love with her.

I’m lucky to have found that woman who is beautiful inside and out. She is one of the most gorgeous women in the country. I always tell her, to her disbelief, that men anywhere in the world would find her beautiful, but it was her inner beauty that drove me to marry her. She is my wife, Georgia.

RJ Ledesma

RJ LEDESMA on wife Vanessa

The most beautiful woman for me is the “most beautiful flower of Mount Carmel”—the Blessed Virgin Mary—because God takes delight in her exalted beauty.

However—as I shared in my own wedding reception—God’s love manifest to me is my wife Vanessa, the most beautiful women in world, the solar system, and the expanded Star Wars Universe.

Admittedly, I was first drawn to her delicate beauty when we were still in college, when she was a well-known commercial endorser and campus beauty queen. However, it was only when we started dating, got married, and had three beautiful children when I fell more and more in love with her as my girlfriend, my wife and mother of our kids. That was when the true essence of her beauty was revealed (and continually reveals itself) to me.

My wife is beautiful because of the boundless, nurturing love she showers upon me and our children—a love she also unconditionally extends to both sets of our parents, siblings, nieces and nephews.

My wife is beautiful because of her deep strength of character, her firm rooting in her convictions, and her resilience in bouncing back from adversity.

My wife is beautiful because she is our inspiration and number one cheerleader to strive towards becoming the best entrepreneur or gymnast or student or playmate we can be.  Even when we fall short of our expectations, she is there to comfort and reassure and love us even more, because she knows that God has something better planned for all of us. She will hold our hand and help us get there.

She grows more and more beautiful every day.

Rick Yupangco

RICK YUPANGCO on wife Juana

The most beautiful woman to me is my wife Juana, of course. She would kill me if I said any other name.

Kidding aside, Juana’s physical beauty is obvious. She is an incredibly attractive woman, who knows how to take care of herself physically, intellectually and spiritually. She has a great figure, which goes well with her wonderful sense of fashion and style. Sometimes, when she’s focused on doing something, unaware of me or her surroundings, I look at her knowing that I am blessed to have her as my wife.

Juana is a woman of many wonderful facets, the most striking of which is the confidence she displays in the various roles she plays in her life. Wife & mother, editor & writer, health & fitness advocate, wine & food enthusiast—these are all roles done with such amazing passion, energy and love. I have been on the receiving end of these endeavours, and her generosity is clearly evident through her actions.

Yet, aside from her strength, there is a side that is delicate and vulnerable, requiring much attention and understanding. She is a woman who loves to be held tightly and touched affectionately, and she will not hesitate to ask for it when wanted. She needs to have the people she loves close to her, whether it be family or dear friends, as this is a source of her comfort and happiness.

Juana’s genuine beauty shines when I think about who this complex individual turns to during times of joy and sadness. She has the ability to handle whatever comes her way, but she is humble enough to know that it is the Lord Almighty who sees her through life. Her commitment and love for Him far surpasses anything I can imagine.

Francis Zamora

FRANCIS ZAMORA on wife Keri

The most beautiful woman I’ve met is my wife, Keri Zamora. We have been married for 16 years and have known each other for almost 20 years, dating back to Nov. 30, 1997. We have four children, Amanda (15), Rocco (12), Nicolas (6), and Noah (4). She is very beautiful for so many reasons, but I will focus on two.

First, because she is such a loving and understanding wife, and mother to our kids. Given my very busy schedule, which is basically a combination of my responsibilities in San Juan and businesses which I operate, she has dedicated her time to our children, making sure they are well taken cared of—school work, sports, recreational activities, etc. She makes sure all the needs of our kids, which vary widely given their age gaps and genders, are all addressed. She also makes sure we get to spend time together as a family by planning and arranging local and foreign trips when everybody’s schedule permits.

Having been together for almost 20 years. She has learned to accept me for who and what I am, and vice versa. The tricky part of marriage is the fact that the man and the woman grow up in different environments, with different norms, values, and overall perspectives in life. We got married relatively early, I was 23 and she was 21, but our marriage is on its 16th year and counting. Marriage is not about age, but maturity to face the responsibilities of being a husband, wife, and parent.

Next, my wife is literally beautiful. The night I met her in Mars, the IT club back in the 90s, I was very attracted to her very beautiful face and sexy figure. Yes, she was so beautiful and sexy! Years have passed, and she has remained as hot as ever!

You will always be beautiful, Keri Zamora!

Z Teo

Z TEO on wife Aivee

My wife, Aivee, is the most beautiful woman I know. Being beautiful is not only about physical looks, although that is also extremely important to me. A beautiful woman goes beyond superficial attributes. To me, beauty is how gentle her heart is to the people around her. Being able to show unconditional love to loved ones and even to those who are hard to love are attributes I see in Aivee.

I find intelligence in a woman very beautiful, and I see that in abundance in Aivee. There is a saying, “A beautiful girl is just a beautiful girl, but a beautiful girl with intelligence is absolutely lethal.” It is reassuring that there is always someone I can depend on to converse with in an intellectual level.

In the greatest, best selling book of all time, there are many mentions of what beauty is in a woman. That book is the Bible. It talks about how charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but the woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Truly, a beautiful woman is not only attractive and intelligent with a gentle, forgiving heart, but she is also a spiritual soul with the right relationship with God. She has pure and simple faith. These qualities of physical attractiveness, intelligence, a gentle and forgiving heart, and a healthy spiritual relationship with God are what I believe makes a truly beautiful woman. I see all these in Aivee.

Sergio Boero

SERGIO BOERO on daughter Mayumi

“The most beautiful woman I’ve met is my daughter Mayumi. She is beautiful because she has a unique smile and a brilliant mind.”

Javi Berenguer Testa

JAVI BERENGUER TESTA on wife Lexi

The most beautiful woman I have ever met is a lady who exemplifies true beauty. She is beautiful in the flesh and in her heart. A woman who carries herself with pride. Whether she is dressed to the nines for a formal event or dressed down with tattered jeans and boots, she is gorgeous. She does not necessarily follow what is trendy, but what she believes in. She loves to be herself and to feel good in what she is wearing. She will create her own style, and damn, does she look good in it! The woman I speak of is none other than the woman I married 12 years ago and the mother of our two daughters. She is Lexi Schulze.

A beautiful person both inside and outside, Lexi stands out because of the person she is. She is driven to succeed in her chosen field and life, in general. She always strives to do better and wants the best for everyone. A beautiful person does not only appear beautiful on the surface, but is one who puts others before herself. She is one who is there for others, and Lexi is one of those. Lexi will always go out of her way to help a friend or acquaintance. She always tries to find a way to bring happiness to others, and this brings out her beauty. To the most BEAUTIFUL WOMAN I know….I love you very much.

Martin De Guzman

MARTIN ROCES DE GUZMAN on fiancé Marion Branellec

Marion’s genuine kindness continues to inspire me to become a better person to everyone around me, everyday. She is down-to-earth and has no airs about herself, which is becoming increasingly harder and harder to find in a person nowadays. She respects everyone. She loves her family and would do anything for them. She works hard and always tries to improve herself. I frankly don’t know how she does it. She juggles her work, her post-graduate studies, working out, our dog, and dealing with me (and my antics!) with so much grace. She makes me laugh like no one else. She’s beautiful because she’s not trying to be. She’s not afraid to make a fool of herself, and to laugh at herself. She just is. She’s the most beautiful person I know. Her outside beauty pulls you in, but it is what’s on the inside that has made me want to spend the rest of my life with her.

Mike Toledo

MIKE TOLEDO on mother Expedita

Oliver Wendell once said, “Youth fades, love droops, the leaves of friendship fall. A mother’s t secret hope outlives them all.”

I owe everything to my mom. All that I am and all I will become is because of her. The sacrifices she made for our family, the stern guidance, the words of encouragement, the fervent prayers, the warm embrace, the gentle touch, the bottomless love she poured on us—all these and much more make her the most beautiful woman—in and out.

Not a day passes that I don’t thank the Lord for the blessing that was Mom. I love you, Mom! And I miss you so much.

Raul Francisco

RAUL FRANCISCO on wife Joanna

To me, the most beautiful woman in the world is my wife, Joanna.

Joanna is beautiful inside and out. Strong but gentle, honest but kind. She is the person I want in my corner, who’ll always have my back, and be my check and balance. She is funny and silly, yet has an understanding of people and situations that goes beyond her years. She always trusts her gut feel, and I have learned to listen. She does not know how to love in halves. When my wife loves, she loves all the way.

She’s the woman I’ll go to hell and back for, the woman I know I can rely on to be my true partner for the rest of my life. She is the mother of my son and step-children, the one who makes our house a happy home. A good heart—what more could be more beautiful than that?

Mike Huang

MICHAEL TANTOCO HUANG on wife Kathy

The most beautiful woman I know is my wife, Kathy.

She is beautiful to me for a whole lot of reasons. She knows how to put herself together very well, and she never ceases to amaze me. Even if she is such a simple person (she loves to wear just white shirts and denims on a daily basis), she still manages to take my breathe away when she has to get dressed for certain occasions and events.

Besides being beautiful outside, she is even more beautiful inside. She is a very loving and caring person. I see this everyday, as she is a great mother to our children. She makes it a point to be there for our family, even for simple things like making sure our kids have everything they need for the day to reading bedtime stories to them. Not only is she there for us but for our extended family, as well.

She is always there for me when I need a person to talk to, and I know I can always count on her to give it to me straight. She really knows how to speak her mind, and I truly appreciate that about her. Kathy is also a true friend, and she shows this when she gives her support to friends. She is there for them at all times. Despite her busy schedule, she always finds a way to balance work, family and leisure time.

All in all, what really makes her beautiful is who she is—the same person I fell in love with the day we met.

Dennis Valdes

DENNIS VALDES on daughter Athena

“Who is the most beautiful woman you know? What makes her beautiful?” As soon as I heard the questions, I knew it was a trap. No married man can be expected to give any other answer than “my wife.” Unfortunately, my wife Tessa’s work schedule could not accommodate the photo shoot dates, so I turned to the next available beautiful woman I know—my camera-shy, almost 12-year-old daughter, Athena.

“Sweetie, I’m being asked to have a photo shoot with the most beautiful woman I know,” I asked her. “Can you have your picture taken with me, or should I ask Pia Wurtzbach?”

“Can you just ask Pia?” she shot back.

Ah, this is what makes the women in my life so beautiful. They have a sense of humor like no other. Their beauty is from within them, not so much a prettiness that is external, but a character that is beautiful.

When I think of my wife and my daughters, I am reminded of what the fox told the Little Prince, “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.” That said, it wouldn’t hurt to get to meet Pia someday.

Ton Concepcion

TON CONCEPCION on wife Karen

I met the most beautiful woman 30 years ago. We were both studying in U.P. Diliman, and when I saw her for the first time, I had the subconscious feeling that we were destined to be together. Seven years later we got married. Today, we’ve been married for 23 years with five wonderful children. This beautiful woman is my wife Karen Fabie.

Karen has made the past 23 years very happy for me. She is my adventure partner. From diving in Tubbataha to biking in Japan or skiing in Italy, Karen is always by my side through whatever midlife crisis adventure I partake in. Karen is my chief advisor and has always encouraged me to never give up on my dreams. Clearly, I would not be where I am today without her faith in me.

She is a loving mother to our children, who treat her as their best friend. Karen is a wonderful cook, and our hearts and stomachs are full every night with joy and laughter. Karen is an accomplished artist that has made the world more beautiful through her art. She is also an accomplished equestrian.

Despite being a woman of many talents, she continues to be simple and humble, and prefers to wear gym clothes and rubber shoes so she can do her clapping push ups rather than looking all glam in a dress and high heels.

Karen’s inner beauty is what makes her truly beautiful, and that is what I fell in love with. When I wake up everyday, I feel like I’m the luckiest guy in the world because I have Karen, my best friend and the most beautiful woman in the world, to share the rest of my life with.

Cary Lagdameo

CARY LAGDAMERO on wife Christina

I’ve met many, many beautiful women in my life, but only one has stolen my heart. As cliché as it sounds, this woman is beautiful inside and out. Lucky me! Let me talk about what’s on the inside, because certainly, she is physically beautiful.

A beautiful woman for me is someone who puts everyone and everything before herself. She makes sure her kids are well taken cared of, makes sure her husband has what he needs, and makes sure all her employees get paid before herself. She teaches her children the value of hard work, but clearly doesn’t need to, since they can see it in her. She gives her family hope and shows that nothing is wrong, even though she’s going through a rough patch. She puts up with her husband…over and over and over again.

She does all this with grace. She does it with a beautiful smile. She certainly deserves more. She deserves the world. She’s the greatest gift to our family, a family that’s held together because of her. She’s my wife, Christina Trillana Lagdameo, the most beautiful woman in the world.

Freddie Borromeo

FREDDIE BORROMEO on wife Josephine, and daughters Sophia and Fionna

There are many beautiful women in my life, but three are top of mind for me.

First, there is Josephine, precious wife to me, loving mom to our three children, and doting lola to our seven apos. She doesn’t look like a lola though—she has defied Newton’s law, and it shows on her face. A perfectionist, she thrives on pressure, mostly self-applied. Translation: super efficient homemaker, kitchen manager, menu planner, event organizer and smart dresser. The consistently exulting results: immaculate house, excellent meals, perfect holidays, fabulous trips, stunning looks.

Then, there’s our eldest daughter, Sophia. In my book, she’s a certified Superwoman. Her MBA comes in handy, as she juggles her time managing three family enterprises—a glass company, a testing laboratory, and a BPO. A distaste for idleness prompts her to take up a “sideline” at Christmastime—dressing up homes for the holidays, while attending to the gazillion tasks of managing a household and caring for two boys and a husband. How she does it without running out of steam is beyond me!

Lastly, there’s Fionna, who parlayed her MBA for a post as vice president in a multinational bank. Gentle, proper and thoughtful, she is custom-made for her calling as human resources manager. She belongs to that rare breed of women who can navigate the gender divide with ease. You can find her socializing in a long gown and full makeup one minute, then in shorts fixing a broken cabinet door the next—the female McGyver. She is brilliant with numbers and knowledgeable about any subject on earth. To me, she’s the sweetest child; to her two little girls, she’s the best mom in the universe.

Are strength and beauty mutually exclusive? Not to me. They’re packaged into the DNA of my wife Josephine and daughters Sophia and Fionna, who make love and pride well in my heart.

Quito Lopez

QUITO TANTOCO LOPEZ on wife Pamela

The most beautiful woman I’ve met is my wife Pamela Rosario Gonzales Lopez. What makes her beautiful is her relentless passion for perfecting life’s every detail. She shows her passion for Lady Scott Jones by ensuring every single piece of the collection is curated personally. She ensures every piece of furniture is well displayed.

She is beautiful because she makes sure Pepe and I are always well taken cared off. For this, I am thankful to have met and married her.

Chris Tiu

CHRIS TIU on wife Clarisse

To appreciate the beauty of a woman, you must know what it is her heart desires. In this world, it is external beauty that usually sells. People tend to value you for how you look, who you are, what you’ve done or what you own.

To me, a truly beautiful person is someone whose heart is sincere and has a strong desire to serve others and make their lives better. She is someone who is confident yet remains humble, courageous yet compassionate. In the end, she is not worried about how other people would perceive her, except God.

Perhaps one of the greatest blessings God has given me is to have Cla as my wife. She not only embodies the principles I mentioned above, but she has been very supportive and understanding as a wife. When our little Amanda came into this world, I saw firsthand how much she sacrifices and how she always puts herself last. I think it is this selfless love that makes her the most beautiful woman for me.

Raymond Rufino

RAYMOND RUFINO on wife Anna

Maybe it’s because I wake up every morning and smile at how simply beautiful she is just as she is…even while sleeping.

Maybe it’s because I’ve gotten to know her so well that I can see the beauty of her spirit—a spirit that is strong yet kind.

Maybe it’s because of the tireless care and love she lavishes on our children, expressed through every caring embrace, every healed wound, and every lesson taught.

Maybe it’s because the world seems to laugh with her, with her humor and quick wit always on call even during the toughest of times.

Maybe it’s because I believe real beauty is being true to yourself while working hard everyday to be better—so you can share the best of yourself with those you love.

Whatever the reason, beauty is not thought of or felt. You just know it. And I know that my wife Anna is the most beautiful woman I have ever met.

Carlo Reyes Antonio

CARLO REYES ANTONIO on wife Cat

The most beautiful woman I know is my wife, Cat. She is beautiful for many, many, many reasons!

For the people who know Cat, it is not surprising how unwavering her dedication is towards the people she cares about. Her singular ability to make you feel secured, taken cared of, and looked after is one of her most beautiful traits.

Cat is also a “true partner” of mine. After being married for almost six years, we have found equilibrium, wherein we are able to support each other both in work and with our family. Our partnership is very balanced. We both work, but we also both take care of our young kids. Cat is able to juggle work, give guidance to our eldest daughter Danielle, pick up Asher from school, and bring Alana to toddler classes. What is most remarkable about her is at the end of the day, if she were asked to choose between work or family, I already know she will prioritize her family, first and foremost.

Finally, what I find beautiful and endearing in Cat is her love for simple things—being happy with her family, being productive with the people she works with, and enjoying the laughter of our children everyday.

Louie Ablaza

LOUIE ABLAZA, JR. on wife Mellie

The most beautiful woman I know is a photographer’s delight. Her wit and intelligence, interesting persona, flamboyant style, and lively confidence complement her beauty. She grew up enjoying the rich culture of provincial life, soaking in the traditional values that such a culture is steeped in.

With a rich background and colorful life, she became one of the most prominent socialites in the Philippines. She has been dubbed as one of the best party hostesses. She is known in the social circuit for her grandly unique, fabulous, lavish and memorable parties, where she is joined by our family, our children and grandchildren in welcoming guests from the local and international community. “Life is a party, dress like it!” is a statement that captures her affable personality and her zest for fashion and entertaining.

She is a muse, patron and advocate of all things beautiful and uplifting to the human spirit. As a two-term president of the Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines (FCCP), she led members to, among others, improve the public’s sense of appreciation for arts and culture. Aside from being a lawyer and businesswoman, she is also Guatemala’s Honorary Consul.

She is my love at first sight, and still is over 50 years thereafter. She has been my faithful friend and partner since our humble beginnings and our subsequent rise to where we are today. She is the most beautiful woman I know, the one and only woman I adore, and the best thing that ever happened to me. She is no less than my wife and soul-mate, Amelia “Mellie” Romero-Ablaza.
