“In the weeks since we announced the auction, there’s been palpable excitement from not only sports fans. But collectors alike who are eager to own a rarefied piece of history,” Sotheby’s head of streetwear and modern collectibles Brahm Wachter said.

Jordan led the Chicago Bulls to victory in the 1998 NBA Finals Game 1 during his “The Last Dance” season

In the 45 minutes that he played, Jordan scored 33 points in the red game-worn jersey before securing their win. This led to his 6th NBA Championship and 6th Finals MVP award.

“Yet again, today’s record-breaking result…solidifies Michael Jordan as the undisputed G.O.A.T. Proving his name and incomparable legacy is just as relevant as it was nearly 25 years ago,” Wachter said.
