Cruz and the couple’s friends orchestrated the surprise proposal seamlessly. Cruz created a proposal that integrated Uy’s passion for content creation; he popped the question through a Wes Anderson-like video showcasing the warm and yellow hues of Joshua Tree. When the clip ended, Cruz was standing behind his wife-to-be, ready to ask the sweetest question of all: “Will you marry me?”

The fashion maven, with tears flowing down her face, said yes.

Partners in Life

Before the engagement, the couple had been dating for six years. Uy is known for being one of the first fashion bloggers in the country, pioneering a whole generation of content creators. Cruz, on the other hand, is an entrepreneur with culinary talent.

Aside from being romantic partners, the couple are also business partners. The brains behind burger brand Hungry Homies and beverage establishment FLO All Day Drinking, the couple worked hard to grow their successful ventures.

In a Q&A vlog posted by Uy four years ago, she talked about people asking her and her beau when they were going to get married. She touched upon the pressure they felt at the time, since many of their friends were tying the knot, saying: “We’re both on the same page [about not getting engaged], and it’s not a bad thing.”

It’s clear that the couple needed to approach the important milestone at their own pace, and thankfully, they did. Now that everything has fallen into place, Uy and Cruz are ready to begin a new and exciting chapter of their lives together.
